Get to Know Some People Behind the Success of the Philippine Fashion Industry

Here's a list of the talented Filipino Fashion Designers making our homeland proud.

Filipinos are very particular when it comes to outfit and style. Why? Well, it's one of the many ways in where you can showcase creativity and even express yourself. And as the fashion world evolves like the Earth, you are becoming more and more distinctive when it comes to what clothes to wear at home, at work, at barkada night outs, and at every event on your social calendar. For instance, you got home from work and you immediately changed from a work outfit to a casual outfit for your barkada night out. On the other hand, you may also think that fashion is all about coziness. You are not being picky on what to wear like for example, you are wearing "pambahay" (home outfit) inside the mall. It's obviously normal as long as you don't let others see what's beneath those cozy clothes. You see, it's for you to decide. As the others say, fashion is you.

And just like the other industries, the fashion industry in the Philippines is fast evolving, giving us a wide range of designs that we can choose from. With that, I think we all deserve to know some of the talented people behind the success of this industry. That's why we present to you some Filipino designers you should know.

Rosenthal Tee

Rosenthal designs primarily bridal pieces and ready-to-wear evening gowns. She's said to be the youngest designer to become a part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that was held in Malaysia six years ago. After that, she has also produced collections for several New York Fashion Weeks. Right now, she's a professor at SoFa Design Institute in Manila.

His looks have featured modern designs that make reference to the Filipino custom of wearing home outfits or what we call "pambahay". Looking at his unique pieces, it's undeniable that he's starting to create a name in the evolving fashion industry.

Last 2006, she made her homeland proud by receiving a Presidential Medal of Merit, a high honor, from the former female Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
