8 Movies to Watch on Netflix Right Now for Some Serious Fashion Inspiration

Not just Instagram and TikTok, movies are also a great way to be inspired and find your style!

Do you get most of your outfit inspo from posts on Instagram or short funny videos on TikTok? Don't forget though that TV shows and movies are also a great way to find your style! Movie characters are sometimes the best influencers when it comes to fashion and makeup. If you're bored at home right now and are looking for some entertainment and inspiration, here are 8 stylish movies to check out right now. Plus, they're all on Netflix so you don't have to move anywhere!

Ocean's 8

Besides being a fast-paced, exciting flick to watch, this movie casts 8 gorgeous women with eccentric style, making this our first film to watch on Netflix for fashion inspiration. Sarah Edwards, the costume designer for this criminal, comedy drama, elegantly dresses our fun characters played by Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson, and Mindy Kaling. Cate Blanchett's rock'n'roll style gives us traces of Keith Richards, while Rihanna is a stylish hippie cyber criminal sporting dreadlocks. Whether you're the girly type, sporty type, or ethnic type, you can find your style through the characters of this 2018 comedy.

Clueless

One of the best teen films of 90s America, Clueless stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy, who all give us cutesy 90s girl vibes. Starting with the iconic yellow plaid setup worn by the charmingly clueless Cher, all the outfits worn in this movie are true head-turning inspirations. Everything from the Calvin Klein bodycon dress, flowers in the hair, to camisoles over t-shirts, this 1995 coming-of-age comedy is a must-see if what you're seeking right now is some serious outfit inspiration.

Amélie

Have you ever seen a French movie? If not, this should be your first. Besides being available on Netflix, this 2001 film by Jean-Pierre Jeunet starring Audrey Tautou is a classic cult comedy with amazing, vintage color tones and quirky but fashionable clothing. Amélie's main color scheme is red, so if you need some red outfit inspiration, play this movie on Netflix right now! Her iconic red cardigan to her cute flirty night gown are outfits you'll never forget.

The Neon Demon

If you're okay with some blood and gore, The Neon Demon is the film for you. Starring Elle Fanning, this movie depicts the story of a young girl seeking stardom in Los Angeles as a model. The brilliant colors and quiet mood of the film are intriguing, but you'll be amazed at the makeup and fashion of the characters in this film. You'll see everything in this film from glitter, rhinestones, the eccentric use of hot pink, high ponytails, breezy maxi dresses, to high heels. Auteur director Nicolas Winding Refn never ceases to amaze.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This movie may be hard to follow and understand, but once you watch it, what will stick with you most is Kate Winslet's everchanging hair color. From blue to fire red to shades of green towards the end, you will probably end up being inspired to color your hair when you're done watching this 2004 psychological thriller. Besides her hair, her outfits are also extremely fun and colorful. One of my favorite outfits is her light blue ringer tee paired with camouflage cargo pants and pigtails.

Crazy Rich Asians

Okay, you've probably already watched this since it was a major hit and a great turning event in Hollywood history for the Asian community. Starring Constance Wu, Gemma Chan, and Awkwafina, this film's all-Asian cast performs superbly whilst giving us fashion inspo at the same time. The elegant and elaborate dresses, Constance Wu's iconic tiara, Awkwafina's character's funky setups, and the overall stylish vacation fashion throughout the movie all make us want to visit Singapore right now!

La La Land

If you like primary colors, this is your movie. Emma Stone stuns the screen in simple, plain dresses under the skies of Los Angeles. In this 2016 musical drama, we get to see what stardom in sunny California is like, and all of its ups and downs. But along with that, Mia, played by Emma Stone, brings sophistication to the table through her simple and chic outfits. Yellow, green, blue - you name it, this movie will inspire you to wear any color on the color wheel!

Mean Girls

A classic high-school chick flick from the U.S., Mean Girls is a fun and colorful film to watch, starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert. The iconic phrase "On Wednesdays we wear pink" has stuck with us for 14 years now, and we'll never get over how ridiculous but funny the Plastics are. These girls might inspire you to be confident and show some leg!

Hopefully this compilation has inspired you to turn on your TV or tablet and watch one of these fun, fashion movies (that, by the way, never go out of style). Besides being a place to find inspiration for outfits, movies can also help ease the mind, help you relax and stop thinking about the outside world for a little while and all the chaos outside. Relax and watch one of these movies - you won't regret it!
