At its surprise-heavy event in the U.S. recently, Microsoft also proudly announced the newest collection to their earphone collection, the new Surface Earbuds. The newest product is confirmed to become available later this year for USD 249 (around 12,900).
The Microsoft Surface Earbuds are tuned for Microsoft's music and voice performance, which the company has been pitching as a must-have Office accessory, all equipped with dictation and super call quality. Also, each earbud features two built-in microphones, which should aid in noise reduction when a user is speaking to them.
Another key feature of the Microsoft Surface Earbuds can be found in its overall comfort. According to Microsoft, the earbuds make contact with the user's ear in two places. Additionally, the product offers up to 24 hours of battery life, right with its carrying case. Users should be able to experience eight hours of continuous playback on a single charge. Meanwhile, its case alone comes with two full refills.
The Microsoft Surface Earbuds, just like most wireless earbuds, bank on the use of tap and swipe gestures for users to control their music and other audio features. They also come with the integration of Microsoft Office, which allows features like real-time captions during presentations and the capability to move through PowerPoint slides with just one swipe.
Perhaps the only polarizing feature of the Microsoft Surface Earbuds is right in its design. When shoved right inside your ear, the Surface Earbuds sport a considerably large circular look. As per Microsoft's Robin Seiler, "We looked at many options for ergonomics and weight. We created a simple design that balances against two points in your ear." Despite such a divisive aesthetic, the company said that the earbuds offer excellent in-ear stability, thanks to its unique design language.
In terms of its sound offerings, Microsoft revealed that the Surface Earbuds offer rich and immersive Omnisonic sound, ones that instantly play Spotify from your smartphone with a triple tap on either earbud.
The Microsoft Surface Earbuds are part of Microsoft's surprise release, dubbed as its new holiday lineup. The array of products also introduced its game-changing dual-screen smartphone Microsoft Surface Duo, its dual-screen device for productivity Microsoft Surface Neo, and 2-in-1 devices Surface Pro and Surface Pro X. Also included in the mix is the company's Surface Laptop 3, which features the 10th-generation Intel Core processor and new AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processor.
