Apple Analyst Reveals AirPods With Wireless Charging To Arrive in Q1 2019

Apple's reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now given updates on the company's famed wearables, indicating that the Cupertino, California-based firm will include top-grade features such as wireless charging and an all-new design in its next offerings.

The Apple AirPods is now slated to come with a makeover when it debuts in the first quarter of 2019, a serial Apple analyst of KGI Secrurities, Ming-Chi Kuo, has revealed. Kuo shared that the iPhone-maker is planning to infuse some upgraded features in the newest version early next year, and a completely new edition the following year.

One of the biggest features, according to Kuo, is that the newest AirPods will come with a wireless charging case. This is a major upgrade as the current carrying case of the product only comes with a standard Lightning cable. Meanwhile, the analyst also revealed that the redesigned wearables will feature new components and hinges. The new AirPods will also come with a case that features a "rigid-flex board" internal component upgrade.

In the same vein, the device is now engineered to withstand higher thermal requirements, as the hinge of the charging case is now poised to be redesigned. Consequently, Kuo predicts that the device will now come with an increased cost of 60% as all of these modifications are more expensive to manufacture.

In regards to the 2020 AirPods version, previous speculations reveal that the device will come with features like a beefed up IP rating and a Hey Siri integration.

The purported, newer versions of AirPods in the upcoming years are notably a product of the device's impressive growth since the wearable has debuted. Kuo predicts an even more dramatic growth for the AirPods, with units skyrocketing from 16 million in 2017 to a staggering 100 million by the year 2021. That said, AirPods is easily Apple's most popular accessory to-date.

Launched in 2016, AirPods is Apple's response to an increasing wireless needs of its consumers. It offers a cord-free wireless audio experience with up to five hours of battery life. Currently, AirPods is rechargeable through the included case that juices the accessory up to 24 hours in just a single charge. Stay tuned for more updates.
