About Polaroid Tablets
Polaroid Tablets offer new technology to middle class Philippines
Smart phones are slowly being pushed aside in the consumer electronics business by tablets. This is a certainty, and for this particular reason, many smart phone companies are slowly shifting their production lines to their tablet franchises. Even other consumer electronics companies are venturing in to producing quality tablets for their consumers. Polaroid is a perfect example of such a corporation.
Polaroid started out as an American corporation producing sunglasses and eyewear under the leadership of its founder, Edwin H. Land. However, after a series of misfortunes and bankruptcy, it emerged out as a consumer electronics brand specializing in digital cameras.
Under its new CEO, Scott W. Hardy, Polaroid also ventured in to producing smart phones for the middle class Americans, and slowly started to expand its consumer base to a worldwide audience. After the initial growth spurt, Polaroid decided to shift its focus in to producing tablets, as they were the next “big thing” in consumer electronics.
Let’s take a look at the following low to mid range tablet models that Polaroid came up with in Philippines:
Q10 – This was a very popular product in Philippines. This tablet featured a 10 inch display unit with 1024x600 pixels resolution. Hardware specs included a quad core processor with 1 GB DDR3 RAM, as well as Android version 4.4 KitKat OS with 4 GB internal memory and both front and rear cameras.
S7 – This model is a high end product from Polaroid, with impressive HD display and capacitive touch response. It features a 7 inch display unit with 1024x600 pixels resolution. In addition to that, it also offers a dual core processor with 1 GB DDR3 RAM and 4 GB internal memory. Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean OS is pre-installed with 2.0 MP primary and 0.3 MP front cameras.
Kids Tablet 2 – Polaroid came up with a “kid variant” for their tablet range, with full HD display and parental control features. This features a 7 inch display unit with dual core processor and Android 4.2 OS version. It also offers safe browsing and a child-friendly design interface.
Polaroid introduced their line of tablets in Philippines in early 2008-2009. They did not want to produce exclusive or premium tablets for the high end users. Rather their aim was to apply their smart phone philosophy to their tablet franchise, and come up with something viable for the struggling middle class. This was their key marketing strategy and remains so even today.
