LG Smart InstaView is not your typical fridge

LG's flagship refrigerator, Smart InstaView, features Amazon's Alexa Voice Service and the company's own webOS smart platform. It gives emphasis to the user's convenience and makes the kitchen experience more entertaining.

LG introduced a new type of refrigerator at the CES 2017, a Door-in-Door refrigerator to be exact. It is called Smart InstaView that comes with software integrated into the hardware- a different approach to the traditional refrigerator indeed! In addition, it features Amazon's Alexa Voice Service and is powered by LG's own webOS smart platform.

Speaking of the two systems integrated into the appliance, it adds to the user's convenience as a whole. The LG's webOS can help the users to explore a host of Wi-Fi features directly on the refrigerator, thus, creating a powerful food management system. Moreover, what really gets them into the upper hand is their partnership with Amazon and integration of Alexa to the fridge. Alexa is an intelligent personal assistant that can give virtual support such as: searching for recipes, placing orders in Amazon, and add items to the shopping list. It can also play music, request car service, set kitchen timers and check the weather, plus other 6000 skills available- all that through just voice commands. This will, in turn, make the kitchen chores entertaining and easy.

As what is aforementioned, it gives emphasis to the convenience that the consumers can get from the all-new refrigerator. With just two knocks on the screen, the 29-inch touch LCD instantly turns transparent to allow it's users to look inside the fridge without the hassle of opening the door. This was made possible by the InstaView feature that the refrigerator is boasting. It can also store family stuff like notes, reminders and to-do lists and input expiration dates on the food that is inside with its Smart Tag menu. With its 2.0MP panoramic super-wide lens that is accessible via smartphone, the user can see the inside of the fridge even while grocery shopping.

"By working with Amazon, we are able to broaden LG's Smart InstaView refrigerator's capabilities and provide consumers with a new smart home service that enhances the at-home cooking and dining experience," says the president of LG's and Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company, Song Dae-Hyun. "Our newest innovation will allow users to enjoy their kitchens like never before with new abilities to 'speak' to the fridge, control the home's connected devices and connect with the family in a new way."

"For many families, the kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in the house and a place where they often find their hands tied. Now consumers have even more convenience in their homes, all just by using their voice and Alexa," said Mike George, the vice president of Amazon Alexa. "In working with an innovative home appliance company like LG, we can truly showcase how much better life can be for consumers everywhere starting with updating one of the most important appliances in the home."
