Dual-screen YotaPhone 3 teaser surfaced online, pre-orders will start this summer
Russian tech firm Yota Devices recently teased a smartphone on their website which is believed to be the dual-screen YotaPhone 3. The alleged YotaPhone 3 is expected to have its pre-orders starting this summer.
The Russian startup Yota Devices recently leaked a teaser image of the alleged YotaPhone 3 on their website, hinting the device's imminent release. The tech firm's website now displays the new banner image on the homepage with the words that read "See You Soon. Pre-orders open this Summer." Although it gives us an idea when the handset will be officially announced, it did not disclose the exact launch date, unfortunately. Furthermore, the teaser did not reveal much about the device's design.
Apparently, we can still get something from the image. It shows a faint outline that follows through the phone's curves and a physical home button on one of its sides. It also has a camera on the top right corner while the volume rocker and power button are located on the side. The keys on the right seem to be mirrored on the left of the handset, suggesting that the image showcases the front and back where both appear to sport a screen. This might be possible considering that YotaPhone's selling point is its dual-screen setup which is comprised of a color display up front and E-ink on the rear part.
To mention, the phone's predecessor, the YotaPhone 2 was launched three years ago, way back in February 2014. It initially shipped with Android 4.4.3 KitKat on board. The good news is, it has now started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. For all the YotaPhone 2 users, they must head to the "About Phone" section under Settings and click "System Update" to avail the newer operating system. The YotaPhone 2 is described as having a more stylish, larger screens and more functionality than the original one. Its successor, the YotaPhone 3, is expected to come with bigger screens, a better processor, and upgraded RAM and storage.
