As the 18:9 aspect ratio display becomes more and more ubiquitous, we will find more and more affordable options for it in the entry-level and mid-range segments. Our latest find is the BLU Pure View, a 5.7-inch smartphone with an 18:9 FullView display and an irresistible price tag.
BLU has long had a reputation for providing affordable smartphones that are factory unlocked, making them easy to sell and use in any market. Their latest smartphone is known as the Pure View and has shown up on Amazon.com for a list price of USD 199.99 (about PHP 10,300). For what you get, the phone does look pretty enticing.
The 5.7-inch display is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and has an HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels, which is decent at this segment. Many smartphones in this segment have HD 720p resolution, and having a FullView option makes it pretty interesting. The processor is a MediaTek MT6753, with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The rear camera is 13 megapixels, while the front camera is a dual-camera array with two 8-megapixel lenses. The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner and does facial recognition for unlocking.
All in all, the phone is what we've come to expect in the lower mid-range segment, and it does have a beautiful minimalistic design to complement the large screen. The focus on the selfie camera is not surprising, and by releasing it on Amazon.com, it will have a wide distribution channel, which is especially helpful as it works with all the GSM network carriers due to being unlocked.
BLU has not announced the phone yet, and it isn't actually available to purchase as the listing shows it is out of stock. But with the listing in place, it's just a matter of time before BLU ramps up production and makes it available for purchase. When it begins shipping you can look at the Amazon.com listing to make a purchase.
