About Nokia Mobile Phones
Nokia Mobile Phones, Great from the Get-Go
Nokia has brought us some of the most memorable and innovative mobile phones in history. One way or another, a Nokia handset has been part of our lives, and without it, we would not have the phone capabilities that we do today. Nokia's mobile phones have enabled us to talk to our loved ones no matter how far they were, both through texting and calling. Moreover, Nokia mobile phones are famous for being virtually indestructible, sustaining countless drops and bumps without affecting functionality, so much so that Nokia phones have become a meme. Overall, Nokia mobile phones are one of the most important inventions in history.
Before Nokia Made World-Famous Phones
The company started out as a paper mill in 1865, established by Engineer Fredrik Idestam in Finland. The word "Nokia" came later, when his second mill was constructed on the banks of the Nokianvirta river, and the company was named Nokia Ab in 1871. After around thirty years, the company expanded and ventured into electricity generation. In 1918, Finnish Rubber Works acquired Nokia for its hydro-power resources, and in 1922, Finnish Cable Works was also acquired by the two, creating a trio of jointly owned companies. These three companies continued to work independently until 1967, when they officially merged and turned into the Nokia Corporation.
The company focused on paper, electronics, rubber, and cable, manufacturing things such as toilet paper, bike and car tires, rubber shoes, televisions, communication cables, robotics, personal computers, and military equipment, among others. In 1979, Nokia partnered with Salora, a Scandinavian color TV manufacturer, to create Mobira Oy, a radio telephone company. A few years later, Nokia launched the Nordic Mobile Telephone network, which linked Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Following this was the launch of the world's first car-phone dubbed Mobira Senator. In 1984, Nokia acquired Salora, and in the same year, they launched the Mobira Talkman, which was advertised as one of the first transportable phones, meaning it could be used inside and outside of a car. Three years later, Nokia introduced its first compact phone called Mobira Cityman 900, which was also the world's first hand-held mobile telephone.
Famous Series of Nokia Mobile Phones
・Nokia Lumia Series
The Lumia series was introduced in November 2011. It was a series that was made possible through Nokia and Microsoft's partnership - the devices were designed and marketed by Nokia with Microsoft handling the operating system called Windows Phone. The first smartphone in this series was the Nokia Lumia 800. It was running on Windows Phone 7.5, and featured a 3.7-inch AMOLED display which was a great display at the time. It also had a 1.4GHz Scorpion CPU with Adreno 205 GPU and was able to run the most famous games back then. It also had a great 8-MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The series was well known for it's boxy and colorful design, and continued this trend throughout the series. Following this was the Lumia 710, then the Lumia 900 and 610, then the Lumia 510. The latest release was the Lumia 830, before Microsoft bought-out the brand from Nokia. Overall, the Lumia series was one of the most successful mobile phone series in the modern era.
・Nokia Asha Series
The Nokia Asha series was a variety of entry-level devices that was introduced in October 2011, starting with the Asha 200. The device was a feature-phone that had dual-sim capability, QWERTY input method, and EDGE & GPRS connectivity. It also had a 2MP camera and featured a 2.4" display. Although it was not a smartphone, the Asha was able to provide call and text as well as internet browsing to its users in the era, without being expensive. This phone was then followed with the Asha 202 less than a year later, then followed by the Asha 305 and 306, with the 306 models having a touch screen display and WIFI connectivity. The latest release in the Asha series was the Asha 240 in February 2014, as Nokia had to focus on the Lumia Phones due to income problems. Overall though, the Nokia Asha Series was a great option for users who wanted a feature-phone for work without breaking the bank.

Nokia is already one of the greatest companies ever, thanks to their innovative mobile phones and never ending passion to create a better version of an already successful handset. Their most famous mobile phones are known for being durable, which make them a great buy no matter what your use case maybe. These handsets could withstand countless drops, and just recently, MKBHD, a famous tech Youtuber, set a Nokia mobile phone on fire, and even after almost melting completely, the phone still worked. It just goes to show that Nokia manufactured their handsets with unmatched engineering and quality materials. In addition, Nokia handsets are well known for being widely available, anywhere. Even now, in a world ruled by big and expensive smartphones, you could still find a Nokia handset online if you wanted to. Furthermore, Nokia Mobile Phones are adored for being simple and user-friendly. The older generation are still able to use Nokia's handsets to this day, texting their loved ones or making phone calls.
