The Lenovo IdeaPad collection comes in a variety of series, each one designed for a particular purpose.
Y Series: this line features premium high performance laptops designed for gaming and multimedia. They are built with the fastest processors, high resolution screen displays, the newest 3D graphics technology and studio class audio. You can choose between 14 inch and 15.6 inch. All models are powered by 3rd generation Intel Core processors and come with built in Microsoft Office 2013. The laptops have high definition video, Dolby Home Theatre, JBL Designed speakers, NVIDIA Discrete Graphics, Integrated 720p HD Webcam, Dual Digital Array Microphones, Backlit Keyboards, Bluetooth, Intelligent Touchpad and One Key Recovery.
- Pros: The laptops offer very good graphics performance. Plus, the3rd generation core processor and JBL speakers are a nice touch not to mention the affordable price.
- Cons: There are some users who find the notebooks to be a bit on the heavy side.
U Series: this series feature designer laptops and ultrabooks. They make a stunning statement and are svelte and ultra-portable. The laptops come with Intel Core ULV processors and equipped with Microsoft Office 2013. They boast of HD Video, Dolby Audio, Integrated Webcam, Bluetooth, Multitouch Touchpad and Intel Wireless Display technology.
- Pros: Customers will be delighted with the brilliant sound, excellent graphics and massive HDD as well as the great price.
- Cons: They are a bit chunky with a battery life that is not as impressive. Build quality is also average.
S Series: the laptops in this series are considered as entry level ultraportables. You can expect them to offer you decent performance, clean designs and good battery life, all at a very reasonable price. All models under this series come with Microsoft Office Trial, 3rd generation Intel Core I Series processor, High Definition Video & Graphics, Dolby Advanced Audio and Integrated Webcam. They also have Legendary AccuType Keyboard, Multitouch Touchpad and Lenovo Energy Manager.
- Pros: Offer good touch experience and the keyboard is quite comfortable. The models are also thin, lightweight and quite cheap.
- Cons: Display can be improved as well as battery life.
Yoga Series: features convertible entertainment laptops. As its name suggests, you can enjoy at least 4 different modes which make transitioning from your different activities at work and at home a lot simpler. All models under this series come with ULV processors, Multitouch display, Wide Viewing Angle technology, Integrated HD Webcam, Bluetooth, WiFi connectivity and built in Lenovo Energy Management.
- Pros: The laptops are impressive especially with its hybrid capabilities. You can also expect excellent performance and superior display.
- Cons: Battery life is a bit lagging compared to other high resolution laptops.
Flex series: this series features dual mode laptops with keyboards that can rotate behind the screen in order to place the device on a stand mode. This way, users are brought to the screen closer, making watching videos and using touch-enable applications a whole lot easier as it rids the visual distraction from your keyboard. It is not similar to the Yoga series where the keyboards bend back completely, allowing the device to be used as a tablet.
