Best in the Game: Sony PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift or HTC Vive We are on the threshold of a new era of gaming, the virtual reality experience. Let's compare the 3 leading VR solutions soon to come out on the market.

Virtual reality consoles have appeared on the market many times, but sadly they have all failed to capture everyone's attention. That is, up until now. Many say that the time has come for the VR experience to conquer the digital world and as always, it starts with a new kind of gaming experience.

The rivalry of the Sony PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive for the top VR console (captioned as the "Next Big Thing") will start this year. Here are some tips to help you decide in case you haven't made up your mind on which one to pick.

Gaming Experience

Among the line-up of competitors, the Oculus Rift is the most advanced, both in terms of high-quality gaming and the actual games line-up. Currently, the Rift is the only VR console that promises a very exciting line-up of games upon its release, so expect a wide variety of choices compared to the other two.

Gaming position

This might sound new or rather unfamiliar, but since you're going to be wearing a headset, it's only natural to lose track of your position. This will be a new experience to everyone playing with VR, so bear with me as it's going to be hard to understand unless you've tried it yourself. The HTC Vive is the most accommodating in terms of positioning thanks to its chaperon system, the console shows a pop up of the playing space which is clearly a must have feature in case you're playing in a room filled of fragile components. Unlike the Vive, the Rift suggests its user to face only one direction when playing and does not have a pop-up guiding console. The PSVR, although capable of scaling the area for gaming, also doesn't come with a pop-up guiding system like the one in the HTC Vive.

Motion Controllers

As a gaming accessory, motion controllers will definitely add more excitement into your gaming experience. Think of motion controllers like the controller of the Nintendo Wii. In terms of ergonomics, the Oculus Touch is slightly better than the Vive's controllers. When it comes to precision and responce, the Oculus Touch and Vive controller are on par with each other so far. That leaves with the PSVR's controllers. We can't really say that it's bad but compared to the other two, it's no doubt the least impressive.

Summary

Unlike the PSVR and HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift isn't capable of allowing you to adjust the distance of the lenses, and this might be uncomfortable when wearing glasses underneath. But in terms of gaming experience, quality, gaming line-up and motion controller quality, the Oculus Rift has the best to offer. The HTC Vive comes next with almost the same features and quality with an added feature of guiding its users with a pop-up room guiding system. How about the PSVR? Well, aside from a wider variety of game expected to come out later on upon its release, the PSVR strongest feature might be its pricing.
