About HP Desktop Computers

With its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, USA, Hewlett-Packard (HP) is considered to be the world’s leading manufacturer of personal computers. In addition, the multinational information technology company offers hardware and software related products and services to businesses and government sectors.

History

HP was established in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in the latter’s garage with a measly capital of $538. It was incorporated in 1947 and went public in 1957. The company is actually recognized as the "symbolic founder" of Silicon Valley but was focused on scientific, business and industrial markets. The company was a pioneer of sorts and was globally respected for a number of their products including the first handheld scientific electronic calculator (1972), the first handheld programmable calculator (1974), first alphanumeric programmable expandable (1979) and first symbolic and graphic calculator. By 1975, they were producing technical desktop computers and eventually, HP computers possessed similar capabilities with IBM Personal Computer.

In 1984, the company introduced its inkjet, laser printers and scanner product line which evolved into a very successful multifunction collection of products including the single-unit printer/copier/scanner/fax machine. By 1990, HP decided to expand their PC product line which was initially targeting the university, business and research users. In 2001, HP successfully merged with Compaq.

The company entered the mobile devices market with its acquisition of Palm, Inc in 2010. But HP decided to exit the tablet and smartphone market in 2011 to focus on cloud, solutions and software particularly on commercial, enterprise and government markets.

Popularity in the Philippines

When it comes to printers, desktops and monitors, HP is a brand name that most Filipinos are aware of. This intimate recognition stems from the fact that the company has been consistent in its quality of products and not to mention, customer service. In the Philippines, HP dominates the market especially in the following product categories:

Laptops and Hybrids – notebooks offered by HP are obviously top of the line in terms of technology and are certainly crafted to perfection. Desktops – just like the company’s laptop collection, these personal computers are designed to meet all sorts of computing requirements and budget. They are loaded with leading edge technology and boast of sleek design and modern appeal.

Monitors – customers can choose from a generous selection of monitors with different sizes, connectivity and features. Display sizes include 20 inches to over 25 inches while connectivity options include HDMI, DVI, VGA, USB Hub and Display Port. Other features include Full HD, Widescreen, IPS Panel, LED Backlit, Pivot Rotation and Height/Swivel Adjustability.

Printers – HP has outdone itself with their range of single and multifunction printers which make it esy for Filipinos to make a choice based on requirements and cost. Printers to choose from include laser, inkjet, mobile, multifunction, B&W and color. The most popular are the multifunction printers which can print, fax, scan and copy documents. Whether in the home or office, there is an HP printer for you.

Official Stores

To purchase an HP product, customers are given three options: buy online, by phone or thru its many distributors. The company has established strategic partnerships with local stores and resellers in order for consumers to enjoy great accessibility to their products.
