About the Company

Tesla is an American automaker which was founded in July 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning with Elon Musk, JB Straubel, and Ian Wright as co-founders. The company specializes in electric cars, lithium-ion battery energy storage, and residential photovoltaic panels. Tesla also sells other products such as Powerwall and Powerpack batteries, solar panels and solar roof tiles. Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning started the company until Musk became the chairman of the board to lead the company's $7.5 million Series in 2003. The company manufactured Tesla Roadster which is the first fully electric sports car in 2008. It then followed by the Model S which is the world's best-selling plug-in electric car in 2015 and 2016. The company ranked top 8th American car brand among global carmakers in February 2017. Currently, Tesla cars are very popular worldwide.

Company Name

The company was named Tesla Motors in 2003 but changed to Tesla Inc. on February 1, 2017. Tesla was named after the Serbian-American and physicist Nikola Tesla by the company founders Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

Features of Tesla Cars

  • Tesla Model 3 - Acclaimed as the low-cost electric sports car, the Model 3 is the company's earth-friendly gift to the motoring masses. It offers all-wheel drive and larger batteries that offer longer ranges; the sedan can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. One of the unique features of the Model 3 is the full self-driving hardware that it carries which can be optionally enabled at a future date.
  • Tesla Model S - This model is a full-sized, five-door, lift-back electric vehicle which was introduced last June 2012. It boasts up to 335 miles of range. The Ludicrous mode if one of the special features of this car which blasts the top P100D to 60 mph in a claimed 2.5 seconds. It also has Luxury items such as an air filter that can protect the passengers from bioweapons and pollutants. It also comes with Tesla's Autopilot.
  • Tesla Model X - This model is considered as Tesla's safest, fastest and most modern SUV ever built. It comes with an autopilot system that allows the car to actually drive itself with a driver behind the wheel. It has an air-filtration system that protects the passengers when there is a bio-chemical attack. It is also the fastest off the line with 2.9 seconds from zero to 60mph that can match the fastest Ferrari car.

Marketing and Sales

Tesla is presently extending far its presence in Asia. They already have a growing presence in China, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. The company has also been eyeing a few markets for expansions in Singapore and Malaysia. And currently, the Philippines is also a contender to become a new market for their electric vehicles as the power retailer Manila Electric Co. is pursuing Tesla partnership and expects to sign an agreement with Tesla Inc. this year.
