Yamaha could now be gearing up the release of a new Yamaha NMAX. The latest speculation comes after a series of images of the entrant's prototype hit the web. The said images were reportedly being submitted for patenting, an indication that a launch is imminent.
The newly-leaked prototype images of the 2020 Yamaha NMAX suggest that the upcoming refresh will be inspired a lot by its bigger sibling, the Yamaha XMAX. The all-new NMAX is shown to feature new LED DRL's, all similarly shaped like the XMAX. Its headlamp is also placed within a single housing although an integration of a split headlamp is likewise revealed. These will feature LED bulbs; its turn signals are also set to be mounted lower on its front.
The 2020 Yamaha NMAX is likely to be powered by the same 155cc Blue Core 4-stroke water-cooled SOHC single cylinder engine that is found on the MT-15. As it is, we can expect the upcoming NMAX to rev up 19.2 PS and 14.7 Nm. The current generation of the NMAX produces 15 PS and 14.4 Nm. Accordingly, the refresh's engine will be made of forged pistons, alongside a block made of die-cast aluminum with 20% silicon "DiASil." When these materials are combined, a better cooling and a lighter construction are to be expected.
Apart from featuring a lightweight construction, the 2020 Yamaha NMAX's engine is also tipped to include Variable Valve Actuation. Currently, such a feature is included in the current MT-15 as well. This results to a broader powerband which readily provides users a more useful torque in its range.
The 2020 Yamaha NMAX is also speculated to bank on the use of a Stop and Start System, in which the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer hopes to further the series' efficiency. The system is set to be tasked to automatically turn off the engine when it's idling or at a stoplight. And with a simple twist of its throttle, the engine should be starting back up again.
The all-new Yamaha NMAX is also expected to feature a sealed front shield compartment, a keyless start system, and a centrifugal clutch system and automatic transmission.
The 2020 Yamaha NMAX is heavily tipped to launch in the latter months of 2019 or in early 2020. Note that some of these speculated features could still be modified at the time of its launch in the Philippines.
