Vivo has officially announced the iQOO Z1 smartphone, the first handset to feature MediaTek's latest gaming-centric chipset, the Dimensity 1000+ SoC.
The hardware fanfare aside, Vivo's iQOO series' latest is beyond that.
About Vivo iQOO Z1
Display and design
The Vivo iQOO Z1 is built around a 6.57-inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,408 pixels and a cutout. The phone's screen also boasts support for HDR10 and covers 96% of the NTSC gamut. The handset is likewise noted for being one of the pioneers of displays with a 144Hz refresh rate.
In terms of its aesthetics on its back, the phone bears a seamless-looking rear design that is only interrupted by a camera module that houses three cameras.
The iQOO Z1 retails in Galaxy Silver and Space Blue color variants.
Power and storage
The iQOO Z1's Dimensity 1000+ chip is MediaTek's new flagship, 5G-enabled SOC. It features the firm's proprietary 5G UltraSave technology, which helps save battery consumption when using more modern and faster bandwidth.
MediaTek has also improved the chipset's gaming performance, with the HyperEngine 2.0 in tow. The chip also packs low latency and anti-jamming technology.
Meanwhile, the iQOO Z1 has 6GB/8GB of RAM tiers, with 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The handset also sports a 4,500mAh battery, with support for 44W fast wired charging.
The phone is also coupled with ARM Mali-G77 MC9 for its GPU needs.
The phone's rear triple cameras are comprised of a 48MP primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.79, an 8MP ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. Inside the phone's display cutout is a 16MP front-facing snapper.
OS and other features
The iQOO Z1 runs on iQOO's proprietary UI, which is based on the latest Android 10.0. Some of the phone's other key features include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, face unlock, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and USB Type-C.

Pricing and Availability
The pricing of the Vivo iQOO Z1 is based on its RAM and ROM configurations. For the 6GB/128GB variant, the phone is priced at CNY 2,198 (around PHP 15,700); the 8GB/128GB version, on the other hand, carries a price tag of CNY 2,498 (around PHP 17,800). The phone's top-tier 8GB/256GB edition retails for CNY 2,798 (around PHP 20,000).
Vivo also revealed that the iQOO Z1 would arrive with several accessories. These include a cover, a Bluetooth controller, and neckband wireless earphones.
The smartphone brand is now accepting pre-orders through Vivo's official China site. The phone's official sales will start on June 1.
