Vivo Launches New Sub-PHP 12K Smartphone: Meet the Vivo Y15
Vivo is known for producing smartphones that cater mostly to the mid and lower segments of the market. With the Y15, this new smartphone looks to cater to users who love to take a lot of snapshots using their smartphone.
For smartphone shoppers who are looking for a bargain, you are in luck as Vivo Philippines has officially announced that they will be launching the new Vivo Y15 smartphone locally. This new offering from Vivo targets users who have a budget of under PHP 12,000 which can be considered reasonable nowadays.
The new Vivo Y15 features three cameras on the rear that consist of a 13MP main sensor, an 8MP shooter with an ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth detector which is used to achieve the bokeh effect for Portrait Mode, making it very ideal for users who are active on social media.
The Vivo Y15 also features a 5,000mAh battery which can last for more than a day with moderate use, though it's important to note that this smartphone does not support fast charging. Powered by MediaTek's Helio P35 SoC which features an octa-core 2.0GHz processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM, this smartphone runs on low power requirements, so this can definitely last for more than 24 hours.
This smartphone features a 6.35-inch IPS LCD display panel with an HD+ resolution of 1544 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of around 268 ppi. The graphics on the Vivo Y15 is driven by the PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
With the 720p HD+ resolution paired with the chipset and GPU combination, this smartphone can play games smoothly, though some settings may have to be dialed down in order to achieve playable framerates.
For users who require a large amount of space, the 64GB ROM can be supplemented with a 256GB microSD card for additional files and media, which is especially useful for users who take a lot of snaps and videos or for those who love to install a large number of applications.
For added security, the new Vivo Y15 smartphone features a fingerprint reader on the rear portion of the phone, providing an additional layer of biometric security. This new smartphone also has plenty of modern features like Wi-Fi 802.11 with a/b/g/n/ac protocol, and Bluetooth 4.2 which can provide high-speed wireless connectivity to the latest peripherals. For hard-wired connectivity, this smartphone still uses the dated Micro USB port.
Though this smartphone is not exactly a gaming powerhouse, it more than makes up in other ways. For example, its triple-camera setup is a very capable shooter, especially with its 120-degree wide angle lens which can help users capture a better picture of landscapes or even group pictures.
The Vivo Y15 comes with Android 9.0 Pie and Funtouch OS 9, giving this smartphone access to the latest AI features that can maximize user experience.
The Vivo Y15 comes in Aqua Blue and Burgundy Red. With a price tag of just PHP 10,999, the Vivo Y15 can be bought at authorized Vivo dealers nationwide.
