If there is another trend that is here to stay among the flagships and much-awaited variants from the top smartphone manufacturers in the world, it is the bezel-less spectacle. True, Xiaomi may have introduced it to rabid smartphone consumers with its groundbreaking Xiaomi Mi MIX, whose screen-to-body ratio is out of this world, but with the new rumors surrounding its closest rival Vivo, it appears that the battle is just about to get interesting.
In a new Weibo poster, Chinese tech player Vivo has confirmed a rumor that's been clinging to the grapevine recently; the Vivo NEX is now slated for a June 12 launch. The newly touted NEX was preceded by the company's previous outing, showcasing it as the APEX Concept Phone. The poster also teased that the upcoming Vivo NEX will arrive with the newest technology that should rival its counterparts. The rebranded variant of the Vivo APEX, NEX is expected to arrive with a half-screen fingerprint reader along with a display that covers a screen-to-body-ratio of 90 percent, that's more than 9 percent than that of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2's display offering.
Previous leaks of the Vivo NEX also suggested that the flagship will come bearing two editions. First is a Snapdragon 710-powered variant which may boast a design of its own. The same variant is also expected to come with a front-facing camera that's to be located on the far right portion of the bottom bezel. A 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are also thrown in the mix. A Snapdragon 845-toting, 8GB RAM-powered version is also included in the rumor mill; a 256GB of internal storage is likewise to be expected. As it is a rebranded version of the Vivo APEX smartphone, this, too, should feature a pop-up camera.
The Vivo NEX's premium variant is pegged to be retailed at CNY6,988 (around PHP57,300) while the Snapdragon 710-powered offering is rumored to have a price tag of CNY4,998 (around (PHP40,900).
