The Vivo NEX 3, Vivo's latest flagship offering, is now confirmed for a Philippine launch. The most recent development was confirmed by an invitation that was sent to a local tech outlet in the country, revealing that the phone is already set to be announced on October 29. The company is set to introduce the phone at an exclusive event at the Green Sun in Makati City.
The NEX 3's local launch will mark the first time Vivo would be releasing a true flagship smartphone from its already established portfolio. Note that the company wasn't able to introduce the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition as well as the original NEX in the country, for reasons that have not been revealed.
Among the highly-anticipated features of the Vivo NEX 3 is the world's first Super AMOLED Waterfall FullView display. The proprietary display features a notch-less and bezel-less body, which also doesn't feature the usual buttons, such as power and volume buttons. The display offering is said to out-rival that of Samsung's Infinity display.
On paper, the Vivo NEX 3 features an impressive 6.89-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,256 x 1,080 pixels. The display is also equipped with sensors on its sides, replacing the traditional physical buttons. Also, the handset comes with an in-display fingerprint reader.
The NEX 3 is also a powerhouse in the camera department. It sports a triple-camera setup on its rear, one that boasts of a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. The primary camera gets flanked by a 13MP telephoto lens and another 13MP as an ultrawide sensor. The phone is also noted for its unique motorized pop-up selfie camera mechanism, which houses a 16MP camera and an LED flash. The front-facing camera is also equipped with a fill light, which should come in handy when taking selfies at night.
Under the proverbial hood, the Vivo NEX 3 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, with a standalone 8GB of RAM and a non-expandable 128GB of internal storage. The phone also comes with a 5G variant which is equipped with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. The handset also works on a massive 4,500mAh battery with 44W fast battery charging.
The local price of the Vivo NEX 3 isn't revealed yet. But to keep you in the loop, the phone's 8GB/128GB variant in the Chinese market is priced at CNY 4,998 (around PHP 36,200) while the top-tier 5G variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage carries a price tag of CNY 6,198 (around PHP 44,900).
