In its attempt to bank on the growing popularity of the cross-over type and robust-looking vehicles across its European C-segment's demographics, Toyota has launched the all-new Toyota Corolla TREK. The newest entrant is the fruition between the collaboration of the Japanese automaker and TREK Bicycle. The partnership is noted for bringing their similar environmental values which also result in offering their complementary mobility solutions.
Also gained in the partnership is the provision of the Corolla TREK as support vehicles for the Trek-Segafredo World Tour Teams, during the European cycle racing events. At the moment, there are 16 Corolla TREKs, all equipped with the 2.0-liter self-charging hybrid powertrain, which have been provided to Trek-Segafredo. The fleet is also set to be used at future European events as well.
The all-new Toyota Corolla TREK's key feature is its raised 20mm ride height which results in greater ground clearance. The Corolla TREK also comes with bespoke 17-inch wheels, plus a new honeycomb grille added right to its exterior. Also included are fog lamps and LED headlights, besides its rear privacy glass.
In a bid to reflect the outdoor aspirations of the Toyota Corolla TREK, Toyota also elected to make it available only on Touring Sports models. Nevertheless, consumers are given flexible options under the hood – a choice of 1.2 turbo, 1.8, or 2.0-litre self-charging hybrid powertrains.
For its interior, Toyota equipped the new Corolla TREK with upholstery in two-tone textile material, matching its overall decorative wood-inspired elements seen on its dashboard. Meanwhile, the TREK logo is present in both its tailgate and doorsteps. The new vehicle is also laden with much standard equipment which include its 7-inch color TFT display in its instrument cluster and the brand's latest Safety Sense. Among the key perks of this feature are its Pre-Collision Safety System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Intelligent Auto High Beam. Additionally, the entrant also comes with a 7-inch TFT infotainment screen.
Toyota hasn't announced the prices for the Toyota Corolla TREK yet, but this information should be revealed in the coming weeks. In the U.K., the newest TREK is tipped to come with a price tag of GBP 29,000 (around PHP 1.850 million). In the same region, first customer deliveries are expected to take place before the end of 2019.
