Samsung's refreshed foldable smartphone is a success in the Philippines.
According to Samsung Philippines, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has already reached a "sold out" status in the country, managed accommodating its incoming inventories in three days. The phone's pre-ordering commenced last February 14. Additionally, the local demand for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip reached its peak when many of the consumers had lots of money to spend.
Samsung Philippines' Business Unit Head of IT and Mobile, Jerry Mañus, shared, "All the excitement surrounding the Galaxy Z Flip proved that there is a strong desire for a new mobile experience that offers both style and function."
The significant traction that was gained by the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, as evidenced by its noted status locally, is a vindication for Samsung and the dismal criticisms that were received by its first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is a huge improvement over the Galaxy Fold for a slew of reasons.
While the Samsung Galaxy Fold opens like a book and is a bit of a struggle when you pocket it, the Galaxy Z Flip is rendered like a regular phone that folds in half. The Galaxy Z Flip is not only a pocketable and less bulky phone, but it also comes with more formidable materials such as its purported glass display.
In terms of hardware and performance, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is powered by a more powerful Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 855+, coupled with 8GB of RAM and a non-expandable 256GB of internal storage.
The controversial crease on the Samsung Galaxy Fold's display is also almost eradicated on the Galaxy Z Flip's newly-improved glass screen – all thanks to its much better hinge and screen design. These same characteristics assure its users that no dust can get in and possibly brick the device.
Other key features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip include the distinct foldable Dynamic AMOLED display, a Super AMOLED cover display, a rear-dual camera setup, and a wireless charging.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is also significantly cheaper, right with a starting price of PHP 79,990. At the time of its launch, the Samsung Galaxy Fold was priced at a staggering PHP 109,990.
The pre-ordered units of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip are scheduled to become available for claiming on February 21, 2020. The phone in the country retails in two color variants – Mirror Black and Mirror Purple.
