In a bid to enhance the Olympic spirit of the upcoming Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Samsung, the Worldwide Olympic Partner for Wireless Communications, in partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) unveiled the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition. To further enhance the Olympic experience, Samsung also launched the official Rio 2016 app, which promises to provide athletes and fans alike with Olympics-related news and updates on a 24/7 basis.
Samsung will be giving each Olympian in the 2016 Games a considerable packet of Olympic goodness: a Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition and a pair of Gear IconX cord-free headset (which is worth at least USD 200). The Gear IconX features advanced fitness applications, including an in-ear heart monitor, and it can play music as a standalone device. When the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition and Gear IconX are paired, you have the ability to get fitness updates in real time using the S Health app.
Samsung says that giving each Olympian their devices will help facilitate easier communications between Olympians and their loved ones, and at the same time enhancing their Rio experience.
The Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition screams out "Olympics" with its design; it uses the five Olympic Ring colors on the body itself, plus the Olympic symbol is prevalent on the phone's GUI, including major phone applications (dial, contact, and message apps). It also comes preloaded with the Rio 2016 Olympic Games-themed wallpaper.
The device will be released on July 18 in South Korea, Germany, and China. Sadly, it will only come in small number and pricing is not yet released as of the moment.
