Samsung Galaxy S21 Series Debuts, PH Pricing and Availability Revealed

Like clockwork, Samsung made good on its promise as it officially released the Galaxy S21 series. The lineup, which consists of the vanilla Galaxy S21 5G, Galaxy S21+ 5G, and Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, is the Korean tech giant's first foray in the proper flagship race this 2021.

Like the previous generations, the Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup came prepared with all the bells and whistles―ranging from its new mobile processor which also happens to be the company's first premium 5G-integrated chipset built on the most advanced 5-nanometer process node, industry-leading display features, to sophisticated cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S21 5G

The smallest among the siblings, the standard Samsung Galaxy S21 5G features a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels; there's also support for a high 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 1,300 nits of peak brightness, Always On Display, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 5G's display has a cutout at the top center, housing a 10MP wide selfie camera.

Around the back, Samsung places all the phone's triple cameras on the Galaxy S21 5G's top-left edge. The cameras are headlined by a 12MP wide unit, with a 64MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultrawide module as its auxiliary sensors.

The Galaxy S21 5G is then powered by Samsung's latest in-house SoC, the Exynos 2100 (international model), or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset depending on the region. The Exynos 2100 is the company's first premium integrated iteration built on the top-of-the-line 5nm process node.

Additionally, the Galaxy S21 5G has 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The handset also works on a 4,000mAh battery capacity, with support for 25W fast wired and 15W fast wireless charging options; a 4.5W reverse wireless charging is also included.

Other key features of the Galaxy S21 5G include an in-display fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C, Bluetooth, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 5G runs on the latest One UI 3.1, based on Android 11.

Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G

The slightly larger Galaxy S21+ 5G comes with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with the same FHD+ resolution and tops up with a high 120Hz refresh rate. The Corning Gorilla Victus is likewise featured.

Like its regular sibling, the Galaxy S21+ 5G is powered by the Exynos 2100 (international model), or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset depending on the region, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of onboard storage. Akin to its display size, the phone also works on a larger 4,800mAh battery capacity, with 25W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G also has the same camera features, both on its front and rear setups.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G

Building on its predecessor's headline-grabbing premise, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is also all about impressing upon power and sophistication.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, with support for 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 1,500 nits of peak brightness. Like its siblings, the phablet also boasts the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Always On Display.

As you'd expect from its Ultra moniker, the phone did arrive with some show-stopping camera features. These are front-lined by a quadruple-camera setup on its rear, with a second-generation 108MP wide unit as its primary lens. Its auxiliary sensors include a 10MP periscope telephoto camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide module.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G also has a large 40MP selfie shooter residing in the phone's display punch-hole.

Like its siblings, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is powered by an Exynos 2100 (international model) or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset, depending on the region. The phone is then accompanied by 12GB/16GB of RAM tiers, with 128GB/256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage options.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G also flaunts the largest battery in the series, with a whopping 5,000mAh capacity. It also has support for 25W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

Another highlight of the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is the introduction for support of the iconic S Pen, popularized by Samsung's Galaxy Note lineups.

Pricing and Availability in the Philippines

According to Samsung Philippines' official website, the newest Samsung Galaxy S21 series carries the following prices in the Philippines:

• Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G: 12GB RAM/256GB PHP 69,990

Alternatively, the Galaxy S21+ 5G and Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G can also be availed for a three-month installment plan through Metrobank credit cards.

Samsung Philippines also announced a pre-order promo period from January 14 to 28 for its Galaxy S21+ 5G and Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. Those who opt to participate will get the following:

Pricing and availability for the Galaxy S21 5G model have yet to be announced by Samsung's local arm.

It's also worth mentioning that the new Galaxy S21 series doesn't come with a charging adapter inside the box similar to what Apple did with the iPhone 12 series. In Samsung's defense, most users will have their previous charging adapter anyway and the movement is eco-friendly helping reduce waste generated by tech companies. Samsung also added that they still included a USB Type-C cable in the box though and that they've reduced the pricing of their charging adapters for those who prefer or need a new one.
