Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ Debut With 120Hz Display and Better Camera Features

The Samsung Galaxy S20 and S20+ bank on the charmed formula of the Galaxy S10 lineup with key upgrades on screen, battery, and cameras.

Samsung has officially unveiled its Galaxy S20 series. The vanilla Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ are the sucessor to last year's Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+. Samsung also unvieled a 3rd device which is the highest-end model amongst this year's Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

About Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+

Display

Samsung opted to launch the Galaxy S20 series without the "e" fanfare. As it is, the regular Samsung Galaxy S20 serves as the lineup's smallest offering – with a 6.2-inch screen. Meanwhile, its larger sibling variant, the Galaxy S20+, boasts a massive 6.7-inch screen. However, both employ an improved Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a cutout at the top center.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ also come with support for HDR10+, Always-On Display, and 120Hz display refresh rate up to FHD resolution. The latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6 also protects their displays.

Power and Storage

The Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ are both powered by Samsung's current flagship in-house chipset, Exynos 990, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 SoC. Both also come with a standalone 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage.

The vanilla Samsung Galaxy S20 works on a 4,000mAh battery while a juicier 4,500mAh battery fuels the Galaxy S20+ variant. Both have support for 25W fast charging and 15W fast wireless charging. Also, both come with 9W power bank/reverse wireless charging.

Camera

Both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+'s rear camera setups are housed in a familiar module, which we've already seen on the recently-minted Galaxy A71.

Samsung Galaxy S20

The Samsung Galaxy S20 sports triple cameras on its rear, headlined by a 12MP ultrawide sensor followed by a 12MP wide-angle camera and a 64MP telephoto lens. The same setup can be seen on the Galaxy S20+ variant, except for its additional 0.3MP TOF 3D for depth-sensing. In addition, both the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ are capable of shooting 8K videos at 30 frames per second.

Samsung Galaxy S20+

Up front, both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ sport 10MP front-facing camera sensors housed in their display cutouts.

OS, Connectivity, and Sensors

The Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ feature an in-display, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Their list of sensors includes an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and barometer.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+ run on the latest One UI 2, based on Android 10.0.
