Samsung Galaxy S11 Renamed to S20 to be Unveiled Feb 11 Along with the Galaxy Fold 2
Samsung starts the year with an invitation to its 2020 UNPACKED event happening on February 11 where the latest Galaxy flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S20, and a new foldable phone are expected to be unveiled.
After the world just greeted the new year, an invitation from Samsung surfaced on its social media channels. The video invitation is for its 2020 UNPACKED event happening on February 11, 11AM PST, in San Francisco, USA (Feb. 12, 12:30AM in the Philippines), and hints at two Galaxy smartphones to be launched at the event. The South Korean company usually announces its newest Galaxy flagship phones in February, so it's a no-brainer that the company will launch the successors to the Galaxy S10 smartphone family next month. The bonus is the new foldable phone, currently referred to as the Galaxy Fold 2, that will be launched along with the flagship.
Prior to this, there had been lots of rumors and leaks about the Galaxy S10 successor and among the most recent was from the credible tech tipster Ice universe who claimed that there will be no Galaxy S11; rather, the latest flagship will be called the Galaxy S20. He hinted that the Galaxy S11e will be succeeded by the Galaxy S20, the Galaxy S11 by the Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S11+ by the Galaxy S20 Ultra, although the last one doesn't seem to be the final name yet and other options might still be considered.

Given the leap in numbers in the series name, it might be safe to assume that the new phones might have also leapt in terms of features. In fact, another tipster tweeted that the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra will come in 6.2-, 6.7- and 6.9-inch display sizes, respectively. And since there seems to be no reported successor for the Galaxy S10 5G, it is presumed that all three Galaxy S20 phones will be 5G-ready. Taking into consideration the other rumored and leaked specifications, the Galaxy S20 phones could come with either the Snapdragon 865 SoC or a new Samsung Exynos chipset depending on the region they will be released in, and would run Android 10 OS. There would also be a huge boost in the phones' optics department with Samsung's new-generation 108MP sensor, the ISOCELL Bright HM1, which will perform quite well even in low-light scenes.
Nothing much is known about the next foldable phone, but Samsung is said to make huge changes design-wise such that it will appear more like a flip phone, ala clamshell style. With this new design comes a decrease in price, with reports suggesting a KRW 1 million (about PHP 43,000) sales tag, a little less than half of the current Fold's value.
No pricing details are available yet for the Samsung Galaxy S20, but February 11 is barely over a month away so it's only a short wait before the official specifications and details are made public.
