About Samsung Galaxy S20
Is it Samsung Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20?
There are rumors spreading that Samsung is going to release another addition to their Galaxy S line, the Samsung Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20. Which one of the two are they releasing or are they releasing both, we still don't know! But until February 11, let's look closer to what these phones can offer us.
Samsung already sent invites to the press, influencers, and other phone enthusiasts for their official Unpacked keynote event. The major device all people are anticipating to be announced is the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20. More people are leaning towards the idea that Samsung will not call the flagship device Galaxy S11 but instead, Galaxy S20 lineup. The Samsung Galaxy lineup will consist of three phone variations: Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, and the Galaxy S20+ 5G. If the S20 naming doesn't go as predicted, the lineup will be called Samsung Galaxy S11 5G, the Samsung Galaxy S11 Ultra 5G, and the Galaxy S11+ 5G.

- It will have a great camera set-up
- It will surely offer an AMOLED display
- It will surely have a Corning Gorilla Glass Protection
- It will have Water-resistant or Waterproofing
- It will have an NFC or Samsung Pay app
Cons of Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20 (Base on leaks)
- It will have no FM radio
- It will be heavy on the hands
- It will be expensive
- It will be a fingerprint magnet
- It offers 5G that will not be applicable yet to the Philippines
Design of the Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20
Most of the leaks available as of the moment have the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 looking like a typical Samsung flagship model with an upgrade on the colorways and the camera set-up. It is rumored to have a Gorilla Glass 6 in front, a Gorilla Glass 6 at the back, and the frames around the phone in aluminum. This kind of built is very typical for the Samsung phones on the higher price tier. The front will be an all-screen glass with Infinity-O technology with a cyclops-like selfie camera cutout at the top-center and under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. On the bottom edge, there might be a USB 3.1 port, a speaker grille, one microphone hole. To the right-hand edge is where the volume rocker and the power button is placed. On the opposite edge of the device, you will see the Single SIM (Nano-SIM) or Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) alone. The device is made out of the premium aluminum frame and both front and back are entirely made out of glass so it's going to be 164 grams heavy or 5.78 in ounces. Dimension-wise the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 will be at 152 x 68 x 7.9 millimeters or 5.98 x 2.68 x 0.31 inches. Some leakers said that we can anticipate this phone on at least three colorways: Blue, Grey, and Black. For the finish, it is still a mystery although The Galaxy Note10 series had gradient effects while the Galaxy S10 had solid mirror-like finishes.
Display of the Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20
Samsung is said to use again its celebrated edge-to-edge screen technology dubbed as Infinity-O. The Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 is a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with an 89.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, 1440 x 3200 pixels, and 566 ppi density. It has a 20:9 ratio and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 6, has Always-on display with 120Hz display rate, and HDR10+. Phones with similar resolutions are V50 ThinQ, OnePlus 7 Pro, HUAWEI Mate 20 RS Porsche Design, OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition, V60 ThinQ, Sharp Aquos R3, OnePlus 7T Pro, LG G7 One, LG G7 Fit, LG Q9 One, OnePlus 7T, LG Q9, LG G8 ThinQ, HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro, LG V40 ThinQ, LG G7 ThinQ, and LG G7+ ThinQ.
Performance and Software of the Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20
Since the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 hasn't been released yet, we can't get an accurate benchmark. However, we can take a lot of the general performance of its chipset, Exynos 990. If we look at the Geekbench benchmark, the Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20's chip scored 427 points in the single-core benchmark and 2326 points in the multi-core benchmark. If we compare it to another newly released chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, both have made sure to adopt light to heavy CPU cores. Although the Qualcomm one has utilization of ARM's latest Cortex CPU mode-Cortex-A77l, while the Exynos is more of the middle utilization of Cortex-A76. If it is true that the Exynos 990 is the chipset for the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20, then the GPU model would probably be Mali-G77 MP11. This GPU model is said to have a 20 percent better performance than the Mali-G76 model that you get on the Galaxy Note10. On the software side, Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 is going to run on an Android 10.0 operating system with One UI 2 overlay. The Android 10 sports the following features: Dark Theme, Smart Reply, location controls, Incognito mode for Google Maps, Focus mode, Live Caption, New parental controls, Edge-to-edge gestures, Sound Amplifier, and Security Updates. Dark themes will prolong your battery life and keep your eyes from being too strained from Blue light. Smart Reply suggests responses to messages so that you don't have to. It also comes in handy when you are driving or in a meeting. The Smart Reply also works hand in hand with Google Maps. Location control helps to preserve your privacy by letting you decide how and when your data can be shared with applications on the phone. Focus mode is a perfect mode for getting your life on a plan this year as it will temporarily pause your apps so that you don't get distracted on your most productive times of the day. Live caption lets you capture videos, podcasts, and audio messages without needing a Wi-Fi signal or cellular data and built your one multi-media player of the things that you like and love. Family link helps you have parental control over your kids' online usage by setting screen time, content restrictions, and managing apps. It can even serve as a good GPS locator for your kids, so you know where they are and ensure their safety. Gesture Navigation helps you to fully enjoy the device by advising you on shortcuts with minimum effort. Sound Amplifier comes in handy when you want to boost your audio, filter background noise on videos taken, or tune your sounds for your liking. Security Updates will make sure that your Android 10 device gets the most updated privacy, bugs, security, and software fixes.

Positively, the device supports a whopping Fast battery charging 45W, which fills the device up from zero to a hundred percent in just 74 minutes. It also has USB Power Delivery 3.0 cable, Fast Qi/PMA wireless charging 15W capability, and Power bank/Reverse wireless charging 9W capability.

In terms of device connectivity, the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 sports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, and hotspot for WLAN; there is also an installed Bluetooth version 5.0, A2DP, aptX HD, LE; GPS (Global Positioning System) is enabled with dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, and BDS. It has NFC functionality for electronic transactions. For charging and data transfer, it has USB 2.0, USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, and USB On-The-Go. Unfortunately, the device does not have an infrared port. For biometrics security, there is an under-display, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor; the placement of the sensor is very comfortable to access. Other essential sensors are an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, barometer, ANT+, Bixby natural language commands and dictation, Samsung DeX (desktop experience support), and compass.
Comparing the Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20 to Galaxy S10
The main differences between the Samsung flagship smartphones lie on many things. Who would want to buy the newer version if there were no huge updates anyways? But let's start with the similarities, first. Both the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 to Samsung Galaxy S10 comes with a glass-aluminum-glass sandwich design with metal frames, which gives a more premium look and feel. It has Dynamic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors display. Both also use Gorilla Glass 6 protection, HDR10+, and Always-on display. Other than that, both Samsung phones have the same selfie-camera setup with a 10-megapixel resolution with Dual Pixel PDAF, Dual video call, Auto-HDR, as well as, HDR10+, dual-video recording, stereo sound recording, gyro-EIS, and OIS. The two models also have Fast Qi/PMA wireless charging 15W and Power bank/Reverse wireless charging 9W, ANT+, Bixby natural language commands and dictation, USB 3.1 port, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, Samsung DeX (desktop experience support) capabilities. For the differences, the rear-camera setup for the successor's has a higher resolution. The Galaxy S11 has a larger battery, too. Another huge leap is on the chipset, the network, the weight, the dimension, the display rate, the design, and most probably the color selections. Expounding on the design, the predecessor, Samsung Galaxy S10, had the camera on the punch-hole located at the very top right corner of the phone, while the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20, has it in the middle of the upper side of the phone, Also, the Galaxy S10 has the rear-camera arranged horizontally with the flashes at the very right when facing the user. The new Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 to Samsung Galaxy S10, on the other hand, has the camera set on the upper left and aligned vertically.
Conclusion of the Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20
We are not sure yet how spot on the leaks about the Galaxy S11 or Samsung Galaxy S20 are. We shall have to wait for February 11, 2020, for the official Samsung Unpacked announcement that will be held at Mobile World Congress. It is said that also on that day, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, and the Galaxy S20+ 5G, Samsung will reveal Galaxy Z Flip (second flappable smartphone from Samsung), Galaxy Buds Plus, and possibly a new tablet, fitness tracker or watch. There are also rumors of a new Bixby voice assistant, Samsung Galaxy Home Mini smart speaker, and accessories like phone cases and wireless charging pads.
