Since its debut in 2018, Realme has already grown so much that it's a feat in itself how the once-budding smartphone manufacturer is now one of the most sought-after, not only in the entry-level segment but in the flagship class as well.
Today, Realme has officially expanded its portfolio by announcing the Realme X3 SuperZoom phone, the company's first foray in the realm of camera-centric zoom. Well, in this case, the fancy, periscopic ones.
About Realme X3 SuperZoom
Display and design
In terms of design, the Realme X3 SuperZoom is almost identical to that of the X50 5G, which launched in the Chinese market in January 2020.
The phone sports a familiar 6.6-inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. Also, the handset's display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
There is also the display's pill-shaped cutout, in which the phone's dual front-facing camera setup resides.
Power and storage
The Realme X3 SuperZoom has gone with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855+ SoC, instead of the newer SD 865 chip. The surprising addition of the processor could be done to avoid the high cost of the 5G modem on the American chip maker's latest flagship iteration. As it stands, the phone doesn't support 5G connectivity.
Meanwhile, the smartphone receives 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, alongside the Host Performance Booster (HPB) and Turbo Write for faster transfer rates. The phone also comes with vapor chamber cooling technology.
The Realme X3 SuperZoom is listed with a 4,200mAh battery, with 30W Dart fast charging.
Easily the best highlight of the phone is its 8MP telephoto setup. It supports 5x optical zoom, and up to 60x digital zoom. The sensor also comes with optical image stabilization, which should ensure blur-free shots.
Apart from the key sensor, the device's quad-cam setup on its rear is equipped with a 64MP wide sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro lens.
On its front, the phone's punch hole houses a 32MP wide lens and an 8MP ultrawide lens.
OS and other features
Software-wise, the Realme X3 SuperZoom runs on realme UI, based on Android 10.0. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint reader, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port.
