Realme Launches Their Very First Smartphone in the Philippines, the C1, Is it Worth the Hype?
Realme recently released the C1 smartphone in the Philippines and packs lower-end specifications that cater toward entry users or even users who are on the lookout for a secondary phone unit.
Late last month, the Chinese smart-device manufacturer Realme held a launch event in BGC unveiling their newest smartphone, the Realme C1. This new smartphone is Realme's first entry in the Philippine market and aimed towards the younger hipster generation who are particular about looks but need to stay within a certain budget at the same time.
The Realme C1's form factor boasts a design which are usually reserved for higher-end smartphones. This smartphone features a 6.2-inch IPS display panel with HD+ resolution and takes up a good chunk of the front surface. There's a notch on top of the display panel which houses the front-facing 5MP camera that has an aperture of f/2.2, which is ideal for environments with decent lighting.
It's at the back portion of the Realme C1 that shows off its elite design, showing off a glossy body that looks like glass but is actually made of glossy plastic, which goes very well with the front surface, which is made of actual glass. Realme did an excellent job in balancing the looks with the cost of the smartphone. The rear-camera setup is a dual-camera rig that's made up of 13MP + 2MP sensors, that have an aperture of f/2.2. Since the aperture is just f/2.2, ample amount of lighting is needed to achieve a decent image without digital noise. The 2MP secondary sensor has an aperture of f/2.4 and helps achieve the bokeh effect when taking portrait or close up shots.
To cut back on costs, Realme decided to use the Snapdragon 450 chipset on the C1, which has an octa-core processor with a max clock speed of 1.8GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card. Installed out of the box is Android 8.1 Oreo skinned on top with the ColorOS 5.2 GUI. This is by no means a powerful phone, but this can get the job done for light tasks like consuming content on streaming video sites or browsing social media applications and reading text via the browser or apps.
The centerpiece of the C1 is a 4,230mAh battery pack which can last for more than a day on moderate use. This should come across as good news for users who do not have ready access to a power outlet since it can last up to 18 hours on a single charge.
The official suggested retail price of the Realme C1 is just PHP 5,990, though starting on December 5, Lazada is offering a PHP 500 discount on this smartphone, cutting the price down to just PHP 5,440, making the Realme C1 an ideal gift for yourself or for your loved ones.
