OnePlus 8T Debuts and will Arrive in the Philippines on Oct 17 Priced at PHP 29,990

The OnePlus 8T is the first smartphone in OnePlus' portfolio to feature an Always On Display mode.

Despite its "T" moniker, the newly-announced OnePlus 8T is still determined to shine through the flagship competition.

As expected, the newest member off the expansive OnePlus 8 series did arrive with some notable upgrades, all of which centered on its display and battery offerings.

About the OnePlus 8T

Display and Design

Two of the biggest changes in the OnePlus 8T can be found in the display department. The phone, which sports a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED panel, now boasts a high 120Hz refresh rate. This matches the OnePlus 8 Pro's display refresh rate.

It's also worth noting that the OnePlus 8T's new panel received a perfect A+ score from DisplayMate. It was praised for its accurate colors, alongside a peak brightness of up to 1,100 nits.

Additionally, the OnePlus 8T is noted for being the first smartphone in OnePlus' portfolio to feature an Always On Display mode. To hype this feature, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer pre-loaded 11 different designs for it.

Alongside these, the OnePlus 8T's display is also HDR10+-compliant and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

A fingerprint reader is also embedded in the phone's AMOLED screen.

Power and Storage

The OnePlus 8T draws its power from Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 chipset, coupled with 8GB/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM tiers and non-expandable 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The 8T also comes with an upgraded multi-layer game-grade cooling system which is the most advance cooling system ever used on a OnePlus device.

Meanwhile, the phone is listed with a 4,500mAh battery, with support for 65W fast wired charging. Its battery is slightly larger than the OnePlus 8's 4,300mAh capacity.

Ultimately, the OnePlus 8T's new support for Warp Charge 65 is also considered as one of its major upgrades. It's claimed to charge the phone fully in just 39 minutes.

The OnePlus 8T comes with the same 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor on its rear. There's also a 16MP ultrawide camera which has the widest lens of any OnePlus phone to date. The other cameras are a 5MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor.

Inside the phone's display cutout is a 16MP selfie shooter.

OS and Other features

The OnePlus 8T is also one of the newest phones in 2020 to ship with the latest Android 11 OS out of the box.

Other key features of the phone include Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and USB Type-C. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
