OPPO A15s Goes Official in the PH, Priced at PHP 7,999

OPPO's latest smartphone is an entry-level device with all the bare essentials, such as a large 6.52-inch IPS LCD panel and triple cameras on its rear.

OPPO continues its tradition of providing only the necessary features in an entry-level smartphone with the release of the OPPO A15s in the Philippines.

OPPO's newest budget-friendly handset went official without much fanfare and right on the heels of the much-bigger announcement of the OPPO Reno5 5G and Reno5 4G duo.

Unlike the duo, the OPPO A15s is a definitive smartphone for budget-conscious users. Only retailing for PHP 7,999, the smartphone is just about one of the cheapest offerings in the segment now.

The OPPO A15s can now be availed at select OPPO concept stores and online; the latter channels are via Lazada and Shopee.

The OPPO A15s features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD panel with 720 x 1,600 pixel resolution and support for 480 nits of typical brightness. The phone's display also flaunts a dewdrop notch.

Around the back of the OPPO A15s is a triple-camera setup, front-lined by a 13MP wide lens with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture. The phone's rear camera system also includes two 2MP macro and depth sensors. Additionally, OPPO features an 8MP wide selfie camera housed in the phone's display notch.

In the hardware department, the OPPO A15s is powered by MediaTek's Helio P35 chip, an octa-core processor based on a 12nm architecture, the same SoC used by many handsets such as the OPPO A31 2020 (A8); it also features PowerVR IMG GE8320 GPU. The phone also sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable onboard storage.

On the other hand, the phone is working on a 4,230mAh battery. OPPO, however, didn't equip the handset with support for fast wired charging. The device only comes with the backing for 10W charging.

The OPPO A15s also features a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, a dedicated FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 5.0. As it would with any phone that doesn't support fast charging, the device also packs a dated Micro USB port.

On the software front, the OPPO A15s runs on ColorOS 7.2, based on Android 10. The phone retails in two color variants – Mystery Blue and Dynamic Black.

While the OPPO A15s doesn't have the bells and whistles of the OPPO Reno5 5G and 4G variants, the phone should be able to stand out quite well in the entry-level smartphone race, right with its unapologetic essential features sealed in a competitive price tag.
