Mitsubishi Xpander Outperforms Rivals In Latest AAP Fuel Efficiency Test

Mitsubishi Xpander variants, the Mitsubishi GLX MT and the Mitsubishi GLS Sport AT, bested all the other four competitive vehicles in an AAP-sponsored test that should appeal to those with high priorities on fuel efficiency.

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi is pulling out all the stops to ensuring that all its cars are the most fuel-efficient alternatives in a throng of competitive vehicles. This has been made evident by a recent Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) test which declares the Mitsubishi Xpander as the clear winner.

The two Mitsubishi Xpander models, the Mitsubishi GLX MT and the Mitsubishi GLS Sport AT, were used simultaneously along with four other competitive variants right along the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX). The test in which the vehicles were subjected to was based on the methodologies used by the Department of Energy's Fuel Economy Drive. Mr. Francisco F. Reyes, Jr., who represented AAP, spearheaded and monitored the said test.

The Mitsubishi Xpander has managed to outclass its competitors easily. The Mitsubishi Xpander GLX MT recorded a stunning 21.01km/L whereas the Mitsubishi Xpander GLS Sport managed a 22.94km/L. Their output outpaced the other variants within its class in terms of fuel efficiency. Eclipsing these models is the third-placer which raked in a decent 19.8 km/L while the vehicle which catapulted the least fuel-efficient result performed a 17.4 km/L. Each of these six vehicles generated an average distance of 236.58km.

The output provided by the recent test also indicates that both variant's 1.5L 4A91 MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control System) DOHC 16-Valve engine was efficient on fuel consumption. Moreover, this result was tallied without affecting the vehicle's overall performance. As it goes, the Mitsubishi Xpander variants, the GLX MT and the GLS Sport should definitely appeal to Filipino consumers whose main priority resides on not only the performance of a vehicle but ultimately on its fuel efficiency, in which at this time is highly critical in a market that is besieged with skyrocketing diesel and gasoline prices.
