Amazin S class
I rode my friend's S400h Exclusive together for 100km. I'll write a review comparing with my Alphard HV-EL.
It has its genuine tires, Potenza S001275/40R19, and I don't have any complaints; I found it comfortable. As for sense of security, because it is 275 Potenza S001, it was better than Alphard HV-EL.
Alphard HV-EL has 17-inch tire with 60 tire profile, so the tires feel mild and comfortable, but to get sense of security, I thought it would need 245/50R18 at least.
The high-end feel of the door trims was that of S class. That was much better than Alphard HV-EL.
The seat material and comfort is about the same as Alphard HV-EL. The massage function was rather good, too.
The quietness of the engine was high, so it was about the same as Alphard HV-EL for 100km/h.
It was 5.1m long as it was standard, but its rear seats are not roomy.
Thinking rear space, long body would be better. But Lexus LS would be the right choice considering Japanese car parks.
Alphard HV-EL is the Japanese luxury car.

1997 W140 S600L
The last model made under the motto, "Das Beste oder nichts". It has the very style of Mercedes-Benz.
98 model, original obsidian black, genuine S600, WALD full complete.
There is only several dozen of W140 S600L in original obsidian black imported to Japan.
Great: Two-toned leather only for S6000, a memorial badge on its steering wheel for being the last model, firm leather that doesn't look old
Bad: The CD GPS system is not at all useful. Drink holders are useless, too.
V12, 6,000ccNA is amazing.
It's zippy for a 5m-sized car.
I have been turned down at some multi-story parking lot.
It is good even with its lowered body.
Of course it is not good. 3-5km/l in town. On highways, it can go over 10km/l.
I bought it at a specialty store back in 2008 for about 4,000,000yen. One owner, total travel distance of 40,000km in 11 years.
I drove CLS350, E55, W220 and W221 after that, but I still think that is the best Mercedes-Benz car.

This car allows you to enjoy your own time.
I did not care about it that much at first but I feel it has impact as I am looking at it.
Should I say it has power...
I am satisfied with its look from the front.
The interior is luxurious!
It looks more gorgeous than my other cars, M-class and Land Cruiser.
I think it is not too rich.
It is very quiet even though it is a Twin Turbo Charging.
With the sports mode it runs sharply and has full of torque.
With the E mode it is slow but comfortable.
I feel it has a firm grip on the ground though it is FR.
I have not tried driving it on slap but I do not think there is any problem.
It is very soft but I got used to it.
I felt it springy but it is comfortable.
It may not be as stylish as a sports car but I feel like the level of comfort it offers is fitting of that of a S class car.
It can go on for 11km on highways and about 8 to 9km on typical roads. If only its fuel efficiency were higher...But it may be an extravagant request.
Honestly speaking, although not many options were attached, I thought it was remarkably good that a full option was attached for this price range. It is really a bargain if it is sold for just 12 million yen.
It has been a while since I last purchased a sedan, but I bought this one.
I may not be a big fan of a sedan, but this seems like a reliable car.
The indirect lighting also looks quite enjoyable.
You can change it depending on your mood and relax.
The sound quality of music is not that bad either.
Be it classical music or ordinary tones, it is pleasant to the ears.
I think it is qualified to make you spend your time at leisure.
The only thing I would like them to improve is the run-flat tire situation. Once in a while you can feel weird vibrations due to the difference in levels.
When I change it to the winter tires, I feel that it gets a little lighter.
Anyway, I think this is a car I can drive for 5 years at ease.

I used to drive it.
It was AMG and for 4 passengers, so it wasn't user-friendly.
The stability and driving the car on the freeway was excellent.

Evolution of automatic driving
I reserved it at the same time they started accepting reservations in October 2013. I have ridden 2 E Classes, 1 C Class and this is my 4th Benz. It has been a 16 year relationship between Benz and Yanase.
Due to the model change and since it was before the consumption tax increase in March 2014, there were many reservations. I selected from a list of cars that were scheduled to come in, but they were reserved for a long time ahead. The only selection was black or white exterior and only black for the interior. Additionally, all cars come with the luxury package option that has the sunroof.
The interior of the new S-Class has a dashboard that is fully covered in leather. For colors other than black, it ends up becoming a two-toned color. Thus, I wished they had standard colors other than black.
1 month after the reservation, the test-drive car for the 550 long arrived and I test drove it. However, the S400 was not even in the showroom. I finally received the car on February 6th. It was the first new S400 in the Yanase branch of Tokyo so it gets a lot of attention within the city as well.
For the S Class, there are many customers that change to the new car at the timing of a model change. Additionally with the increase of the consumption tax, it seems they were inundated with orders. The discount from the car itself was only some ten thousand yen. I received a 300,000 Yen discount from the aluminum + stud-less tires but for a grand total of 13 million Yen, the discount is very little.
Riding it, the light switches, wipers, command dials for the navigation system etc are the standard Benz style so a Benz owner is able to use it without any trouble.
The automatic gear lever is not the shift style but has changed to a lever on the side of the steering wheel and the new key less start takes time to get used to.
The all-over leather dashboard is a design unlike any other car. I repeat that I would have like a white or beige, but unfortunately could only choose black. The largely curved wooden panels, the plastic switches being mostly changed to metallic switches give a feel of German modernity. Such parts largely set this car apart from domestic competitors that use plastic switches and the unchanging old dashboard design.
The lights, including the interior lighting are all LED. There are 500 being used and the design is modern as an LED should be. The ability to change the color of the lighting that shines the driver's seat eerily at night in multiple colors or being able to select a scent is lovable. There is a navigation screen that is larger than a laptop PC and 2 meters that show a mechanical style meter even though it is an electronic display. They show the information about the car in a large display. I think it is necessary to have about this size to understand the system information that has become more complex.
I initially thought the sunroof was unnecessary, but it is large and there is a glass roof even over the back seat. It gives a sense of openness. If you use the glass roof in the winter, the sun light keeps the car warm and I feel it was a good option I included.
The transition between the hybrid motor and engine is smooth. It just makes a small sound like the door locking. However, the feel of the engine break when you release the accelerator and when you release the accelerator from when it is a motor differs which makes it feel a little awkward.
Fuel efficiency is excellent; it is mid 8 km/l for commuting in Tama district in Tokyo, 11 km/l and over around a suburban golf course, 14 km/l and over on a long distance highway and 9.5 km/l on average for commuting everyday including going to a golf course in the weekend. It is a breakthrough as a car over two tons and it is the fuel efficiency equivalent to Benz C class.
Safety aspect is fulfilling and automated cruise has fairly advanced. Thinking of the fact that the equipping of Benz S class gradually becomes other cars' standard equipping, it implies way of being of the future cars.
The radar safety system, by using the long-range, mid-range, and short-range radar systems, the far infrared cameras, and the ultrasonic sensors, is normally in all type of car, and it always monitors around the car.
The Distronic Plus is the system which maintains a distance from the car in front. For example, if you set the speed up to 200km/h, the car automatically follows a car in front in the speed range you set by breaking and accelerating. When necessary it stops the car. If there is no car in front, the car runs in the set speed, and when a car appears in front the system recognizes it and starts following it again automatically. Also by controlling the steering wheel automatically, It maintains the distance from the car ahead and keeps the lanes.
Only pull the lever next to the handle, you can use the one-touch easily. Long-distance driving in a highway becomes easy which makes you want to use it again. Because of frequent lane changes and interrupts when driving in a city, I think you'd better drive a car by yourself.
A blind spot assist and a lane keeper are very useful. When a car comes from your diagonal back, the blind spot assist can warn you of the danger. When you cross over the lane, the lane keeper can warn you put your car back to the lane.
In addition, with a window assist for automatical crosswind-adjusting, a parking assist for automatical garage parking or parallel-parking, a standard brake system for collision-avoiding and so on, the safety is much more reinforced which make consumers feel safe.
Almost all cars are equipped with 360 degree camera systems. For example, when you park a car in a narrow parking lot, the car is reflected by integrated pictures directly above the car. Furthmore, obstacles around the car can also be reflected. Therefore, you can prevent a rub accident often occuring in a narrow parking lot.
As for storage, in order to put a bottle with aroma in the glove box of the dash board, the case for the manual and the vehicle inspection certificate is unneccessary. I wish the storage performance can be improved. The trunk should storage 2 big golf-bags for men plus 1 small golf-bag for women without the top cover. If it becomes S550, because of the real sheet lining and sound-speaker systems, the space will become even narrower. Big space of E-class is neccessary.
I think the price of 10,900,000 yen is reasonable and worthy price. Because it provides the great fuel efficiency by using hybrid, and also provides the latest and best safety equipments now as the standard equipments. I wonder why the Japanese manufacturers provide most of their safety equipments as the options. This reliable car is suitable for any business situations confidently. I think this is my best selection of the car for business nowadays.
