Has anyone installed Microsoft Office software on to this? (Word, Excel etc.)
Is it possible to use Word and Excel without the response being slow?

Also, I mainly use my computer for Word and Excel and emailing and surfing the internet, but is this laptop enough for this kind of usage?

You should have no problem with the response, but the resolution is 1024x600 so Word is especially difficult to use.

Since I bought this about a year ago, I've been having trouble with screen distortion.
I should've had it repaired sooner, but it only happened sometimes so I didn't bother with it much.
However, recently it's been happening frequently and I'm having trouble.

Below is what I found out
- a specific process is not what triggers it
- when the screen distorts, the screen shifts to one side, and when I move the mouse pointer, the screen shifts back and forth.
- it gets better when I reboot my computer
- it also gets better when put the computer on standby and start it again
- I tried updating the graphic driver, but it was no use
- even if the screen distorts the OS itself is running fine

The OS I use is WindowsXP Home (from a recovery disk), and I've changed my memory module to 2GB.

I am at lost because I have no idea what's causing this. Any opinions?

Seems like the wiring to the screen is damaged.

Thx for the reply.

Wiring damage. I never thought of that.
Though I don't know why it gets better when I reboot my computer..

When it happens again, I'll try opening and closing the screen and moving the cables around.
If this helps, then the possibility of wiring damage to be the problem is high.

it might be overheating.
How hot is the bottom of your laptop?
Does the screen distort even if it's cooled down?

I'm using my laptop right now, but the bottom is just slightly warm. It's stable so far.

If overheating is the problem it must be the CPU.
I think I'll use a software where you can monitor the temperature.

use coretemp software, or buy a fan to minimize heat production
