LG Unveils LG Q Stylus Series, Takes On Samsung Galaxy Note Line-Up

The South Korean company, LG takes on the leading Samsung Galaxy Note series as it unveils three variants from the LG Q Stylus line-up. Will its own series finally take a dent on the reigning phablets from the leading brand?

As of late, few smartphone brands have braved the competition and taken on upstaging the Herculean Samsung Galaxy Note series. And with the Samsung Galaxy Note8 now taking its reign, even fewer tech players have bothered to knock it off from its post. Well, not until now.

Fellow South Korean smartphone maker LG has finally unveiled its highly-anticipated LG Q Stylus series, an obvious take on the consumer-favorite Samsung Galaxy Note series. The series comprises three variants, the LG Q Stylus, the LG Q Stylus+, and the LG Q Stylusα. These phablets are all generated by a SoC with an octa-core processor, either clocked at 1.5GHz or 1.8GHz. Also, the devices sport a 6.2-inch display with 2160 x 1080pixel resolution.

The LG Q series' memory configuration is divided into two. The LG Q Stylus and the LG Q Stylus+ are both supported by a combination of 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Meanwhile, the LG Q Stylusα comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The series' camera offerings are likewise divided, the Stylus and the Stylus+ both feature a 16-megapixel rear shooter and an 8MP (or 5MP) front-facing camera. Its sibling, the Stylusα, boasts of a 13MP/5MP sensor combination.

On the other hand, all devices feature the proprietary QLens, a competitive DTS:X 3D surround sound and an obvious stylus pen. In them, users should also see a fingerprint scanner and a surprising IP68 water resistance feature (for the Stylus and the Stylus+ only). All run on vanilla Android 8.1.0 Oreo out of the box.

With the introduction of LG's LG Q Stylus series, there is no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy Note series' long-reigning lead will soon get challenged. And with LG's purported plan to make these variants budget-friendly, there's no doubt that the Note series might soon reconsider its pricing.

The LG Q series' pricing and availability are yet to be announced locally. The line-up is all slated to be retailed under three color options, Aurora Black(for the Stylus and the Stylus+), Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet (for the Stylus+). It will be launched on a limited basis this month in Asia and North America and in other key markets coming this year's third quarter.
