Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) has been very active and busy this year, having embarked on motorsports events and marketing campaigns throughout 2019, not to mention releasing two new Honda scooters, the 2020 Honda Genio and Honda ADV150, just over a couple of months ago.
Now, the top-notch motorcycle brand has taken the wraps off the 2020 Honda Supra GTR 150 — its entry to the 150cc-class underbone segment. MotoGP racer Makoto Tamada and Honda Asian Talent Cup racer Troy Alberto graced the launching event held at Robinsons' Mall in Novaliches. The Supra GTR 150, also known as RS150R in other countries in Southeast Asia, is a sport-oriented underbone motorbike that HPI refers to as a perfect two-wheel vehicle for Filipino riders with a work-hard, play-hard attitude.
The Supra GTR 150 sports a 150cc, four-stroke, DOHC, single-cylinder engine, paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. This liquid-cooled engine can churn a maximum power level of 15.42hp at 9,000rpm, and a peak torque of 13.6Nm at 6,500rpm. It has an impressive top speed at 110kph and is being touted as the "speed aggressor". Yet, it is fuel efficient taking in 42km/L. Its 4.5L fuel tank can cover 189km before it needs refueling.
This latest model from Honda is built using a twin-tube steel frame allowing for a more accessible height at 780mm. Its other features include LED headlights, a digital instrument cluster, front and rear disc brakes, alloy wheels, and a newly-designed exhaust pipe.
Intended to go against the Yamaha Sniper, the 2020 Supra GTR 150 combines speed, comfort, and Honda's latest design and best-in-class technology to give riders an ultimate riding experience. It is said to be capable of weaving through the heavy Manila traffic with ease. It supports the objective of Honda's ONE DREAM campaign, that is, to offer motorcycles that serve as a tool to help Filipinos achieve their dreams.
HPI President Susumu Mitsuishi reportedly said that the 2020 Honda Supra GTR 150 will certainly appeal to the local market. He describes the all-new underbone bike as "Designed to ensure that it fits with the Filipino lifestyle, this new model delivers speed, comfort, and Honda's top-notch technology and design, making every ride a thrilling experience."
Interested underbone enthusiasts can get the Honda Supra GTR 150 at SRP PHP 102,900 from local dealers and Honda outlets nationwide by December. It will be available in two color variants, Valiant Red and Black.
