The Second Batch of Honda Civic Type R Announced in the Philippines

Following last year's runaway success of the Honda Civic Type R in the Philippines, Honda Cars Philippines has announced that it will bring in more units this year. The popular hatchback will be introduced with an additional new color, i.e. Polished Metal Metallic. Specs and features of the vehicle will remain same as the original.

Last year, when the Honda Civic Type R was first launched in the Philippine market, it was only available in 100 units. But those 100 cars were quickly booked within the first 48 hours of the launch. This left many fans cursing their luck as they missed out on buying one for themselves.

But now, those unlucky customers have another opportunity to own the Honda Civic Type R as the Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is going to make available another batch of the cars in the country.

The necessity of introducing the second round of the Honda Civic Type R into the Philippine market is borne out of the fact that the first batch as mentioned above was very successful and currently there exists a robust demand for the car.

The Honda Civic Type R is driven by a 2.0-liter VTEC turbocharged powertrain capable of churning out 306hp and 400Nm peak torque. With the appealing look and the six-speed manual gearbox, it is easily discernable why the car has met with overwhelming success in its first outing.

For its impressive design and performance, the Honda Civic Type R has won lots of laurels. Most prominently, at the Nurburgring race track in Germany, the Type R won the fastest lap time for a front wheel drive (FWD) car.

The Honda Civic Type R will be available in three paint jobs, namely Championship White, Rallye Red, and Polished Metal Metallic, which is also a new addition to the existing color palettes. Unfortunately, similar to last year, the Honda Civic Type R will once again be available in only 100 units. The interested buyers will, therefore, have to take early steps. They can already make inquiries with HCPI in this regard. Nevertheless, the deliveries are only expected by October 2018.

As for the price, there hasn't been any word as yet. However, it is expected that it will hover in the neighborhood of last year's price PHP2,980,000. The chances are high that HCPI will announce the exact price tag in the coming few weeks or so. If an update comes up in this regard, we will let you know as quickly as possible. Stay tuned with us.
