2019 Honda CBR650R Announced With Powered-Up Torque And Compression

The 2019 Honda CBR650R replaces the CBR650F on Honda's famed series, bearing a more prominent styling and a racier riding confidence.

The Japanese automaker Honda has finally unveiled the new CBR650R. Ultimately replacing the CBR650F in its popular lineup, the entrant is more than just a new name. The motorcycle features a combination of beefed up power offerings, alongside a lighter rendition of its overall weight resulting to a swifter and more robust performance.

Let's look into what's been added first. The 2019 Honda CBR650R now comes with an increased compression, giving the two-wheeled vehicle an additional 4hp, revving up a total of 93hp. Its torque has also been increased to 64Nm. Consequently, an increase of 8 percent right in its power-to-weight ratio.

Now, regarding to what's been reduced, the 2019 Honda CBR650R is now 6kg lighter weighing at 207kg compared to the CBR650F's 213kg weight. This is all thanks to the shedding of, all attributes from the vehicle's revised chassis, fuel tank, and foot rests. Meanwhile, the motorcycle is still powered by the same 649cc, inline-four engine. Notably, the CBR650R is now equipped with a revised intake and exhaust setup.

Honda also claims that the 2019 Honda CBR650R now boasts of a softened delivery of torque at low speed. For that, it now functions more aggressively when it showcases right in the second-half of its rev range. Its engine can purportedly rev up to 12,000rpm, easily outpacing the outgoing motorcycle which churns out 1,000rpm less than the current one.

Beyond these, the 2019 Honda CBR650R also features other notable changes. At the helm of these is the inclusion of the HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) system which disallows the rear wheel from sliding especially when it's engaged on a heavy acceleration. Other hallmark modifications are the 41mm Showa SFF USD fork, the radially-mounted four-piston brake calipers with 310mm floating discs, plus a new wheel design.

The 2019 Honda CBR650R is expected to replace the 2018 Honda CBR650F in early 2019. There's no word yet in terms of its official pricing and availability.
