The Haima M3 is carried by the Haima brand which is a Chinese-manufactured company. In the Philippines, it is partnered with Laus Auto Group that carries Haima Automobiles Philippines. This would be the official distributor of the Chinese product..
The Haima M3 is a sub-compact sedan that is a rip off from the Mazda models. This is possible since Haima managed to acquire a portion of the Mazda brand. As you would expect, this is sold at a very low price in the market. When it started to launch in 2015, the vehicle looked challenged. Until today, there are still many skeptics if the Haima M3 can compete with Class C-segment cars. As this gets offered in the market, the vehicle will be available in two variants, the base 1.5-liter manual, and the 1.5-liter CVT transmission. In both cases, it is powered by a four-cylinder engine.
For those looking for an affordable subcompact sedan, then the Haima M3 may be on your radar. However, we cannot promise if it can last, given the poor-quality build. This was the trade-off since the price tag is put at a very slashed amount. It may still take a while before such a brand can gain consumer loyalty, but we will leave that up to decide. This is simply an option if you do not want to ride with the popular trusted brands like Hyundai, Honda, Suzuki, and Chevrolet.
Under the hood, the Haima M3 is equipped with a 1.5-liter that has a DOHC inline-4 gasoline engine. The vehicle has 1498 cc that is capable of producing 112 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque. The engine is accompanied by two types of transmission types as variants to choose from. The first one being a five-speed manual transmission engine and the other is a four-speed CVT transmission for relaxed handling. The 1.5L MT is usually offered as the base variant and the latter one being the flagship of the brand.
When it comes to the interior features of the Haima M3, you would notice that there is a bright cluster of gauges available with decent technology. The tachometer has helpful information such as speed and fuel consumption. At the steering, there is power steering included in the vehicle. There is also automatic air conditioning that helps maintain a decent atmosphere from the cabin.
In terms of the cabin setup, there is decent legroom and an optional setup for a sunroof. There are about 15 interior storage compartments present to help keep things tidy. However, the compartments are a bit small to accommodate any large materials that you want to stow away. These compartments can be found from front to back starting from the glove box, front and rear cupholders, coin cups, and front and rear doors. At the cargo space, the vehicle can accommodate up to 450-liters which can be expanded if the rear seats are folded. Although seats can be folded, it is not at all practical to do for a sedan.
As for the design, the seats are soft faux leather. A chrome plate is also added to the shift to enhance the look. The technology includes the basic entertainment system such as the touch screen, AM/FM radio, CD player, and USB port for input plugin. The sound system is composed of four speakers that are in each corner of the cabin.
Although the cabin style of the Haima M3 wishes to fit it, it fails to achieve modern needs. There are still some eyesores and a few spots that could have been improved since they are not practical to use.
At the onset, the Haima M3 seems somewhat European but fails to complete the look. Although the update now is, of course, better than it was before. The body style features some curves yet keeping a muscular look. The headlamps were able to match with the front fog lamps which should be basic for any car manufacturer. The front sports a grille style while further down the car, there is an antenna that should match the bumpers. The door handles are chrome-plated only. On the side, the vehicle is a bit high-waisted keeping the nose low and the tail high.
At the rear, the Haima M3 has a diamond-style of a tail light with LED brake lights. Depending on the country to market – the vehicle should be available in a few colors such as Metallic Silver, Snow White, Space Gray, Vegas Gold, Passion Orange, and Vivid Blue.
The overall dimensions of the vehicle are 4545 mm x 1737 mm x 1495 mm (LxWxH). The wheelbase spans 2600mm and the tires have 15-inches of alloy wheels.
When it comes to safety, the Haima M3 may not have a complete and comprehensive set. It has airbags for driver and front passenger, a seatbelt reminder and that's about it. It is considered as just the bare minimum. There is nothing special added when compared to other rivals in the market. And this is because of the price tag that is associated with it. There are feature qualities that have to be removed to make it more marketable. However, when you consider a vehicle – of course, safety should still be a priority. Unfortunately, the Haima M3 barely hits modern standards and expectations.
Although there is braking power, the Haima M3 does not feel solid when faced with a collision. The frame barrier easily deforms from both the front, side, and rear. Of course, aside from this, there are some good points that we are thankful that the brand was able to incorporate. Even if they are just basic, we are happy to know that they were not taken away. These are the Engine Immobilizer, Parking Beeps, Speed-sensing, and Central door locking mechanisms. There is also an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) so that you can feel more protected at high speeds. If you have a child on board, there are child-safety locks controlled through the ISOFIX and a three-point seat belt.
