HUAWEI has quietly taken the wraps off its new mid-range smartphone, the Y8p. If it looks familiar to you, you aren't mistaken as the phone is the rebranded version of the HUAWEI Enjoy 10S, which was unveiled in October 2019.
About HUAWEI Y8p
Display and design
The front panel of the HUAWEI Y8p is dominated by a 6.3-inch OLED display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The phone also packs a 90.17% screen-to-body ratio and an in-display fingerprint reader.
On its rear, the phone is sporting a neat-looking panel that is only interrupted by a camera module, which houses a triple-camera setup.
The HUAWEI Y8p comes in two color variants – Midnight Black and Breathing Crystal.
Power and storage
The Y8p is fueled by HUAWEI's home-grown HiSilicon Kirin 710F and is coupled with Mali-G51 for its GPU needs. The device is then accompanied by 4GB/6GB of RAM tiers and 128GB of internal storage. The latter is expandable through the company's NM-enabled card slot.
Powering the phone is a decent 4,000mAh battery, with support for 10W conventional charging.
Around the back, the HUAWEI Y8p's triple-camera system comprises of a 48MP primary camera with a Super Spectrum sensor. This is HUAWEI's version of the RYYB sensors. The primary camera also offers Super Night Mode, which features up to six-second exposures with AI image processing.
Flanking the primary camera of the setup is an 8MP ultrawide angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Inside the phone's dewdrop notch is a 16MP selfie shooter.
OS and other features
The smartphone runs EMUI 10.1, which is based on the latest Android 10.0. While the phone won't ship with Google Play Store, users should receive the HUAWEI AppGallery and other related services.
The HUAWEI Y8p also features Bluetooth 5.0, a dedicated FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C.
