Overview
The Chery Tiggo 2 is a vehicle manufactured by Chery Automobile, a company that is based in China. The first series launched in 2005 which is still a fresh name compared to other well-established brands such as Honda and Toyota. A Chery Tiggo 2 is considered one of the tiniest crossovers from the Chinese manufacturer that dreams to go into the SUV market. With low pricing, the quality may be hampered. And these are the factors that consumers will have to consider for themselves when taking this vehicle into account.
In the startup launch of the Chery Tiggo 2 in the market, it will only be offered in one basic variant – a one gasoline engine that is available in several colors. You can think of its marketing similar to that of a smartphone. The color options come in white, black, gray, silver, red, orange, and blue.
At first glance, the Chery Tiggo 2 will not seem to be appealing. It will have a dull and bland style on the exterior and may not even leave a good first impression. It tries to balance out the ride and handling with the needs of daily use but is still, however, questionable whether it can last. The competition that is matched against this vehicle is, Suzuki Vitara, Chevrolet Trax, and the Ford EcoSport. All of which are the longest key players in the market and are a bit difficult to contend with given the reputation that they have established. Aspiring for practicality, the Chery Tiggo 2 may still have a lot prove before it can win the market. It takes a while before one can earn customer loyalty and this is a challenge that each brand has to overcome.
Performance
The Chery Tiggo 2 is not going to be a very comfortable vehicle to drive because it is aimed to be marketed as a mere vehicle. Drivers may experience issues when it comes to accurate ride and balance. The soft suspensions do not also help in bringing better ride quality as it will feel a bit loosened that normal. But you can be sure that the spring suspensions are there. The steering is lightweight but difficult to maneuver. It lacks the necessary feedback to have more driving dynamics.
Under the hood, the Chery Tiggo 2 is equipped with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine. It has a four-speed automatic transmission gearbox that can produce 106 PS and 135 Nm of torque. The engine is not as powerful and may also be challenged with delivery. However, it can still vent out the power that can bring you to your destination. When shifting gears, the Chery Tiggo 2 is not necessarily smooth to operate. There are times when it could feel lagging and lazy.
Interior
Going into the interior of the vehicle, the Chery Tiggo 2 has a very simple interior much like its exterior design style. The cabin does not necessarily have that flair and any premium styling nor unique features that make it attractive compared to other vehicle competitors. In terms of technology, there is a decent set but it is not out of the ordinary. Of course, when we compare these with rivals – the Chery Tiggo 2 may be lagging. It aims to be a practical vehicle that is prominent in the details incorporated in the design and features.
The steering while is designed with three spokes with a longer vertical centerline. Behind it are analog dials that are nicely positioned on the dashboard. At the driver-console, the design appears slightly tilted and wide due to the angled shape of the air conditioning vents. At the top of the console is a touchscreen entertainment system that is given a black finish. The black-colored cabin is equipped with blue accents from the center console, air conditioning ventilations, and door panels to bring more style.
In terms of cabin space, the Chery Tiggo 2 could feel cramped at full load. For more decent space and more comfort, a four-passenger ride could be hauled.
Exterior

The Chery Tiggo 2 appears with a rugged feel because of the way the body is built, covering all around. The front is shaped with a bonnet that is inclined and ends with an angled front grille. The edges of which are lower and tapers downwards. The skid plate should also be seen at the front of the vehicle. When it comes to the headlamps, the Chery Tiggo 2 has bulbs and daytime running lamps. It is slightly bigger and makes a huge impact on the front view.
Across the body is a clean design. The sides have a shell and roof railing that makes it look similar to an SUV. Focusing on the roofline, there is a curvature in its style that looks appealing. At the back of the vehicle is also a clean look that carries a sleek chrome accent. The taillights look connected thanks to the center join style. A bigger skid plate could be seen at the back which also adds a rugged feel to a simple rear looking vehicle.
Safety
When it comes to the safety features, the Chery Tiggo 2 does not support comprehensive set that could make it exceptionally stand out. It aims to support the bare minimum set which includes dual airbags for front passengers, Anti-lock braking system (ABS), and Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). Child safety locks and seatbelts are standard features that should come from any charge, and the Chery Tiggo 2 manages to keep it.
