ASUS ROG Phone 5 Set to Debut on March 5

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 is slated to be powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 888, with up to 16GB of RAM.

ASUS has finally revealed the announcement date of the ROG Phone 5. According to the Taiwanese tech manufacturer, the phone is set to be unveiled on March 5.

Hyping the ROG Phone 5's unveiling, ASUS has set up an event page on its official site, with a countdown for its launching. Accordingly, the firm will take the wraps off at 7 PM.

Though ASUS didn't uncover any pertinent details surrounding the ROG Phone 5's key features and specifications, tons of online sources managed to trickle some bits of information about the hotly-anticipated gaming device.

For instance, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 was recently spotted on Geekbench, bearing some crucial data down the line. Its listing indicated that the phone would be powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 SoC, with two RAM options of 8GB and 16GB.

In terms of ROM offerings, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 could sport 256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage options. These alternatives, however, may not arrive with an option for storage expansion.

Other reports also pointed to the ASUS ROG Phone 5 arriving with a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass. Additionally, the phone's display might launch with support for an ultra-high 144Hz refresh rate, 1B colors, and HDR10+.

Around the back of the ASUS ROG Phone 5, it is speculated that the phone would come with a triple-camera setup; a single selfie shooter is also scheduled to be showcased right on its front panel.

In the battery department, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 could feature a massive 6,000mAh battery, supporting 65W fast wired charging. A 10W reverse charging feature is also rumored.

Apart from these, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 could also debut with an in-display fingerprint reader, NFC, DTS:X stereo speakers with two dedicated amplifiers, and USB Type-C.

Like some of the ASUS ROG lineup's previous generations, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 is also expected to bring along pressure-sensitive zones or gaming triggers, along with an RGB light panel on its rear. Expect the phone to feature improved, mobile gaming-related features as well.

We haven't heard much about the ASUS ROG Phone 5's pricing, but it's anticipated to cost a lot like its siblings from the noted series.
