Samsung launches two Star Wars-themed robot vacuum cleaners

As the Star Wars fever is gripping the fans in view of the fact that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" movie is going to be released in December, Samsung has rolled out two Star Wars edition robot vacuum cleaners in association with the sci-fi franchise. The two models are in the name of the two prominent characters: Darth Vader and Stormtrooper. Both the models are up for pre-orders on Samsung's official website with the availability promised on November 5.

With the trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" out and the pre-booking for the flick kicking off, Samsung has unveiled Star Wars-themed robot vacuum cleaners to cash in on the insane popularity of this sci-fi franchise.

Dubbed, the "POWERbot Star Wars Limited Edition", the robot vacuums are available in Darth Vader and Stormtrooper models to clean your household. The duo of the new PowerBot robot vacuum cleaners are basically limited editions of the original VR7000 vacuum cleaners which were launched earlier this year at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas.

For the uninitiated, the VR7000 robot vacuum cleaner works smartly by remembering the corners and contours of the cleaning area, thereby efficiently sucking up all the dust and dirt from the room. Depending upon the types of surface, it adjusts its suction. Furthermore, with the help of an app, the smartphone users can schedule or reschedule the cleaning time as well as give voice commands via Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

Getting back to the newly-announced, two limited versions of the POWERbot, they differ in looks, although not drastically. The Darth Vader model makes use of a cover made up of premium materials resembling the Darth Vader's all-black mask while the Stormtrooper model copies the black and white helmet of the latter character.

Apart from the looks, the Star Wars edition vacuums offer "fun and unique" sound effects according to each character. The Darth Vader model, when is powered on, makes the legendary breathing sound while the Stormtrooper model responds by saying, "Let's go!" before any cleaning session.

For a prominent difference, the Darth Vader model is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and remote control whereas the Stormtrooper version lacks these options.

Both the versions of the POWERbot feature 10-watt suction power capacity and 290mm-wide brush, which is 42% larger than the 2.4 mm traditional brushes. The Easy Pass wheel system on both the devices allows them to handle obstacles in their way.

So far there is no information regarding whether these vacuum cleaners will be brought to the Philippines, but we shall let you know if they end up coming to the Philippines. Stay tuned.
