nubia full-screen phone leaked online looks like Essential PH-1

A new mysterious phone has come out of the Chinese patent office, showing a device from nubia that bears an uncanny resemblance to the Essential PH-1.

In keeping with the great trend of 2017 of the bezel-less smartphones, a newly leaked schematic has come to light featuring another phone with a beautiful large screen. This time around, the phone is allegedly from nubia, a subsidiary brand of ZTE. While this isn't the first no-bezel phone the company has released, it is certainly looking to be a really promising one.

nubia first released the Z17s earlier this October, a large phone with a 5.73-inch display with only two small strips of bezel on the top and the bottom of the screen. The newer leaked schematics, on the other hand, shows a device with a much smaller bezel at the top, with a design similar to the Essential PH-1. A small cutout for the front camera cuts through the top of the screen, just as it did on the Essential PH-1. The bottom bezel is still there, however, and is noticeably larger than the almost non-existent top bezel.

These leaked schematics apparently came from the Chinese Patent Office, and if that is the case we could be seeing the phone very soon. The accompanying renders show a black smartphone with a red ring around the front camera. The rear shows a circle in the middle, presumably a fingerprint scanner, which also looks like part of the nubia logo. A dual-camera setup at the upper left completes the features on the rear, and it too is surrounded by a red ellipse. An LED flash unit is right beside it.

All in all, you can see the resemblance to the Z17s, but this new model definitely takes the full-screen design much further. Like the Z17s before it, it will probably have a glass front and rear panel, with a metal frame. And like the Z17s, it'll probably also be a flagship-class device with a top-of-the-line processor and a lot of RAM. Still, we don't have any further information on the device, so we'll have to wait to see how it shapes up to be.
