The Chinese manufacturer, nubia is working on a gaming smartphone: Is it the nubia Z18?
nubia's CEO and co-founder Ni Fei recently confirms through a Weibo post that the company is working on a gaming smartphone. Although not mentioned, the device is expected to bear the moniker nubia Z18 and sport a Snapdragon 845 SoC as well as 8 GB of RAM.
These past few years, the mobile gaming industry has grown significantly and has been taking the world by storm. For instance, Razer, known for its gaming peripherals, unveiled a high-end gaming smartphone called the Razer Phone back in November last year which undoubtedly attracted a lot of consumers. Seeing Razer's success, ZTE's subsidiary, nubia, is now ready to jump on the bandwagon. The company's CEO and co-founder, Ni Fei, recently announced their plans to make a gaming handset built to handle hard-core games on a post in the microblogging site Weibo after a gaming event in Shenzhen, China.
The Weibo post wherein Ni Fei confirmed the news that they are prepping a gaming phone has some accompanying images with it. One of the photos shows a mysterious handset running the "King of Glory" game. We can't confirm whether it is the yet-to-be-launched gaming device or the existing nubia Z17S. Whatever it is, we are looking at a smartphone with minimal bezels and an edge-to-edge screen. Aside from that, Ni Fei did not give further details regarding the upcoming gaming phone including its naming scheme, unfortunately. Apparently, the rumor mills decided to fill in the blanks with their educated guesses.
As per the speculations, the device in question is the nubia Z18 flagship phone. Considering that it is a gaming handset, the nubia Z18 is expected to sport the most powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset under the hood and a display which offers a high refresh rate. As a refresher, the smartphone's predecessors, the nubia Z17 and nubia Z17S, packed 8 GB of RAM, so there's a possibility that the upcoming gadget will also have the same amount of storage. If the purported nubia Z18 follows the usual launch schedule, it will then be arriving in mid-2018. We'll keep our eyes open for more information about its high-end specs.
