Nokia 4 with Snapdragon 450 SoC: Will it arrive at the MWC?
HMD Global's upcoming mid-range smartphone offering, the Nokia 4, is expected to arrive with a Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with Adreno 506 GPU under the hood. We are not yet sure whether it will make an appearance at the MWC or not.
As the Mobile World Congress draws near, we kept hearing about several phone makers' launch plans. For instance, HMD Global, the new owner of the iconic Nokia brand, confirmed that it is participating in the show, bringing at least six new phones including the Nokia 1, Nokia 7 Plus, and Nokia 8 Sirocco. Apparently, there's another handset which we are not yet sure if it will follow suit with its siblings or not. The device in question is the Nokia 4. We initially knew about the existence of the Nokia 4 when we came across an APK teardown of the Nokia camera towards the end of the year. It is worth noting that the unearthed files also mentioned the Nokia 1, Nokia 7 Plus, and Nokia 8 Sirocco.
Meanwhile, the mid-range phone has been in the rumor mills lately, which made us think that it will also make a cameo at the MWC. Earlier this month, we have heard the news that the Nokia 4 will replace the Nokia 3 in the portfolio. Now, the latest information we have so far suggests that the Nokia 4 will pack a Snapdragon 450 chipset under the hood. For those unfamiliar with this matter, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 system-on-chip, built on a 14 nm process, has eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked up to 1.8 GHz. An Adreno 506 GPU comes bundled with the chipset and is in-charge of the graphics department.
As what was aforementioned, we are still not sure regarding the Nokia 4's MWC appearance, that's why it is advisable to take this information with a pinch of salt. We are looking forward to seeing the device at the event, though.
