Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone leaked in images

An alleged pair of images of the Nokia 1 has surfaced, allowing us the first glimpse of the device. The Nokia 1, more or less, will feature the same design of the Nokia 2 and is likely to feature 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. It will be based on the recently announced Android Go operating system which is designed to work on the low power entry-level devices.

Just a few days ago a rumor emerged that told us the Nokia 1 will be one of the early Android Go smartphones to launch. And now the first alleged images of the smartphone have surfaced courtesy of a leak on the Chinese microblogging website, Baidu.

The post on Baidu depicts two images of the alleged Nokia 1 showing off its back. However, the two images differ in appearance. Only things that match in both the images are the rear-camera setup and LED flash.

The two different images point to the fact that either HMD Global is exploring various designs for the Nokia 1 or out of the two images, one belongs to any other Nokia smartphone which might also be in the pipeline.

As for the findings from the images, there is nothing much to talk about. The rear of the device sports a single camera along with an LED flash. The Nokia logo in one image is carved in white while the second one is in black. Both the images, however, are more or less in the line of the design of the Nokia 2. Expectedly, the Nokia 1 will feature Nokia's old-school style metal frame along with polycarbonate body.

As Android Go is a trimmed down version of Android OS suited to run smoothly on budget handsets having 512MB to 1GB RAM, the Nokia 1 is likely to sport 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The display might pack HD 720p resolution. The grapevine is still to get wind of other details of the handset.

Although the price tag isn't known, the Nokia 1 is certain to be the cheapest smartphone from HMD Global after the Nokia 2, which is priced at INR6,999(approx. PHP5,500). The Nokia 1 is expected to see the light at the MWC 2018 event to be held from February 26 to March 1 in Barcelona.

Here, it is pertinent to mention that Micromax is also slated to launch an Android Oreo Go based smartphone worth of INR2,000(approx. PHP1,580) in India this month. Other domestic manufacturers will also follow suit. It seems Android Go-powered smartphone segment will see interesting competition in the coming days.
