Live images of the ASUS ZenFone 5 surface, showing off iPhone X-like notch and narrow bezels
ASUS openly shares its plans to participate at the MWC trade show later this week. The company is expected to bring its latest flagship device, the ZenFone 5, at the prestigious event. The phone recently leaks in live images, revealing its iPhone X-like notch and narrow bezels.
We are only days away before the Mobile World Congress starts to kick off. By this time, we already know who are participating in the trade show and who are skipping it entirely. The South Korean tech giant Samsung has previously revealed its plans to announce its much-awaited flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. HUAWEI, on the other hand, will be unveiling its next-gen devices next month, allegedly due to fear of being overshadowed by Samsung's offerings. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese company ASUS won't be backing out in game, either. In fact, ASUS has already been sending invites for the launch of its newest ZenFone 5.
As we are nearing the MWC, the ASUS ZenFone 5 has been a regular in the rumor mill. The latest report we have so far is a live image of the device which seems to show its resemblance with the Apple iPhone X, complete with the notch on the top side of its front fascia and narrow-bezelled display. The notch looks similar with that of the iPhone X, but it will only house a front-facing camera sensor, an earpiece, and an ambient and proximity sensor. Sadly, we won't be seeing a sensor which can enable facial recognition features.
As far as specs as concerned, the ASUS ZenFone 5 is expected to sport an 18:9 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, it might arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with an Adreno 630 GPU. Storage-wise, it is said to pack 6 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. It is rumored to run on the latest Android platform, the Android 8.0 Oreo. We still have a lot to learn about ASUS' upcoming offering, so stay tuned for the latest updates as we keep a keen eye on the ASUS ZenFone 5 until its launch.
