HUAWEI P20 Lite cleared FCC with iPhone X-like notch and 19:9 aspect ratio

The long-rumored HUAWEI P20 Lite has received the FCC certification. And according to the FCC listing, the new smartphone will pack about 6.1-inch display with an unusual 19:9 aspect ratio and dual-rear camera setup. Interestingly, akin to the iPhone X, the HUAWEI P20 Lite will arrive with a notch on the top of the front screen to accommodate the IR sensor for facial recognition and more.

Following the leak of protective cases of purported HUAWEI P20 Lite a few days ago, the device once again has come to the fore as it cleared FCC certification revealing some of the important aspects of it.

Going by FCC documentation a new HUAWEI smartphone with model number ANE-LX1 allegedly the HUAWEI P20 Lite was certified recently. The listing also shows some sketches which give away that the handset will be sporting about 6.1-inch display with 2280x1080p resolution.

Most interestingly, the display will come with a 19:9 aspect ratio as against in-vogue 18:9 aspect ratio. This confirms the fact that HUAWEI P20 Lite will have a striking bezel-less design. The top bezel will be so slim that the handset will make use of a notch, smaller than the one found in the iPhone X, to accommodate the front camera and sensors- out of which one is an IR sensor dedicated to Facial Unlock.

Another important finding is that the HUAWEI P20 Lite will most likely have a dual-camera setup at the back, laid out in a vertical layout on the top left corner of the device. The camera resolution is not listed nor is the position of the fingerprint scanner is mentioned. However, due to the bezel-less design fingerprint scanner will most likely be rear-mounted.

In a departure, to the previous rumor, the HUAWEI P20 Lite boots Android 8.0 Oreo. On the battery front, the device considering that it is a "Lite" version is powered by relatively a smaller 2,900mAh battery supported by a 9V/2A adapter. Amongst other things, the HUAWEI P20 will support Hybrid dual SIM support and Wi-Fi. As for the dimension, the P20 Lite is 148mm tall and 70mm wide.

We already know that as many as three variants of the HUAWEI P20 are waiting in the wings. The company has already confirmed that no flagship devices will be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2018 in Barcelona rather they are slated to go public a month later in Paris. So while the flagship models, allegedly the HUAWEI P20 and the HUAWEI P20 Plus are headed for Paris it seems at least the Lite version of the HUAWEI P20 might see the light at MWC 2018 in late February. However, more details in this regard are likely to come out in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
