Cherry Mobile Dual Camera Phones Invade the Philippines

If you ever wanted to try out dual camera phones but didn't want to break the bank, Cherry Mobile has heard your plea and gives you not one, but three phones to choose from.

Dual camera phones have taken the world by storm. Instead of focusing on the megapixel count, manufacturers have shifted to a new paradigm: using two cameras and interpolating the image to reach image quality you just can't get with a single lens. This makes great sense in the smartphone world, where the size of the lens is limited by the size of the phone. The only way to get further gains was to just use more lenses.

Previously the domain of international and Chinese brands only, dual cameras are now the next frontier for Cherry Mobile, the largest local manufacturer of smartphones in the Philippines. This is great news for the Philippine market, as Cherry Mobile has made a reputation on bringing cutting edge technology and design with very competitive pricing.

Cherry Mobile has three phones on offer with dual camera support: the Flare P1, the Flare P1 Plus, and the Desire R8. Let's take a quick look at each.

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 is a 5-inch 720p HD smartphone with a MediaTek MT6580 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and two cameras on the back, one 13-megapixel and one 2-megapixel. The front camera is 5-megapixel. It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat and a 2,350mAh battery. It's an entry level phone for sure, but one with dual cameras! Pricing is easy at PHP 3,999.

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 Plus is basically the bigger version of the Flare P1. It doubles down on its brother with a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p display, a MediaTek MTK6737T chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a fingerprint scanner, Android 7.0 Nougat and a 3,300mAh battery. The camera array is also slightly improved, with a main focal 13-megapixel lens backed by a 5-megapixel secondary. The selfie camera at the front is 8-megapixel. That added tech is just 2,000 bucks more expensive at PHP 5,999.

Finally, we have the Cherry Mobile Desire R8, which sits at the flagship position of Cherry Mobile's lineup. You get a real metal body with a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p display, a MediaTek octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, Android 7.0 Nougat along with a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C, and a front camera of 8-megapixels. The rear camera array is 13-megapixel with a 5-megapixel secondary, and it will only set you back PHP 9,999.

All three phones are already available in Cherry Mobile stores nationwide, so if you're looking to get into the dual camera experience affordably, these are the phones for you.
