In the gaming world, one of the biggest names is Razer, a company that specializes in high tech gaming peripherals with a stark gaming aesthetic. They've entered into the smartphone business, but the incumbent companies haven't failed to take notice. Xiaomi, one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers, is challenging them in earnest with a new company known as BLACK SHARK, and they're going to launch their first phone on April 13.
Several teaser media from Nanchang BLACK SHARK Technology Co, also known simply as BLACK SHARK, confirms the upcoming gaming device. BLACK SHARK's social media posts have branded it as a gaming company, and its latest teaser shows a launch poster for with the date: April 13, 2018. The teaser media also has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 confirmed, so we know that this new device will be running Qualcomm's latest and best processor.
In addition to the new processor, the BLACK SHARK phone is expected to have 6GB to 8GB of RAM, and anywhere between 64GB to 256GB of internal storage. The display quality at this point is unknown, and it's unclear whether BLACK SHARK will be matching Razer with a 120Hz display. It's also said that the phone will have a highly-advanced cooling system with an aviation-class design to keep the processor and phone cool under load. Proper cooling is important in a gaming device, as the high amounts of processing required often eat a lot of power and produce a lot of heat. As chipsets get hotter their efficiency decreases, leading to a loss of performance. A top-notch cooling system will allow the device to work at its highest performance even under heavy load.
Other rumors say that the phone will resemble a handheld gaming console more than a smartphone. This means we might have an analog stick or directional pad along with some physical buttons to make the gaming experience better. Still, there's precious little information to confirm this, so we'll have to wait until April 13 to see exactly what BLACK SHARK has in store.
