Ahead of Launch on April 27 Nokia X6 Leaks in Renders
As the Nokia X6 is about to launch on April 27, renders of the handset have popped up online revealing a notched display and dual-rear cameras. The smartphone, which is largely similar to the design of the Nokia 7 Plus, packs mid-range specs.
A few days ago, rumor mill was abuzz with the possibility of HMD Global reincarnating the Nokia X smartphone, which was launched in 2014 under the aegis of Microsoft. But close on the heels, a new report emerged, which suggested that, in fact, the Nokia X6 is coming.
The Nokia X6 is, however, not a new name. The Finnish company had outed a Symbian feature phone back in 2009, with the same moniker. This Nokia X6 is a smartphone - a mid-ranger, sitting between the Nokia 6 (2018) and the Nokia 7 Plus.
Despite the rumor about the key specs and the pricing, we were groping in the dark as to how the smartphone will look like in terms of design. The only thing that we knew it would sport a vertically aligned dual-camera module with Zeiss-branded lenses at the back.
But now, we can feast our eyes on renders of the Nokia X6 that have surfaced online just ahead of the launch of the smartphone. And to our surprise, the Nokia X6 is laden with an iPhone X-like notch, a screen feature that is seen on the flagship models these days. Strangely, the Nokia X6 is not a flagship, so the rationale behind bringing in a notch to a mid-range device isn't clear at this moment.
Looking at the renders, the bezels of the Nokia X6 are seemingly non-existent, but the bottom bezel is slightly thicker and features the Nokia branding, which otherwise used to be on the right corner of the top bezel in any other Nokia handsets.
The Nokia X6 has copper accents and a vertically-aligned-dual-camera setup at the back similar to the Nokia 7 Plus, although the arrangement of the camera module is not totally identical. While in the Nokia 7 Plus, the LED flash is placed to the right of the camera module, in the Nokia X6, it is flanked by the cameras and the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
According to the previous rumors, the Nokia X6 features a 5.8-inch display with a whopping 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is expected to arrive in two variants depending on the SoC and RAM configuration. The variant powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 SoC mated to 4GB RAM will cost CNY1,599 (approx. PHP13,200), whereas the variant powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM will be priced at CNY1,799 (approx. PHP14,900). Android 8.0 Oreo will handle the software side of things.
As the rumors regarding the Nokia X6 have burst into the open only recently many aspects of the spec sheet are still shrouded in mystery. However, this mystery is just a couple of days away from getting unraveled since the handset is pegged to launch on Friday, April 27.
